Re: Bajaj launch spree to start from July - 1 new bike to be launched in every 6-8 we
Surely I don't think there would be more splendors than discovers(I meant models not the number of bikes sold or running) if bajaj release six of them in the coming years. IIRC there are only around 4 if not 5 models of splendor? And out of which only the first model and the splendor pro(I'm not sure) made most of the sales. Others failed to make any strong impact. That with the kind of mileage that it is known for. I wonder what Bajaj is thinking about releasing this many models in the same segment. I frankly think it is too many, it would be better to concentrate on lesser but more effectively and efficiently designed product. I mean look at the big guys(both japs and european) they don't have this much of products in a single segment. Yet they do so well. I know some may think that Indian market is different from the rest of the world, but I think this is too much.Originally posted by s1d View Post2013 R15(Sold) | 2014 Duke 390 (Sold) | 2022 Adv 390 | 2022 Ninja 300

Re: Bajaj launch spree to start from July - 1 new bike to be launched in every 6-8 we
Bajaj just uses the same name, apart from that they take enough care to differentiate the product, and they got only one product in each of the segments i.e. Discover 100/125/150, then you got Discover 100T/125ST, which are priced such that they can't be compared to Discover 100/125 or even 150. Hero also does the same thing without varying engine capacity.. just check the variants of Splenor/Passion. In 125cc segment they got Glamor/Super Splendor and now Ignitor. But Bajaj has Discover 125j/125ST & P135LS, which are easy enough to differentiate. Anyways, the older Discover 100/125/150 is up for replacement, they have run lots of time without any updates. So, the six discovers Bajaj is talking about would be 100/125/150 line up with 2-valve engines and the other one priced at a premium with 4-valve engines.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostSurely I don't think there would be more splendors than discovers(I meant models not the number of bikes sold or running) if bajaj release six of them in the coming years. I can't come to terms with that mate. No matter how hard you try to justify lining up 6 bikes in the same segment, I cannot accept that. In my humble opinion, I think that this is not a necessity.Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostBajaj just uses the same name, apart from that they take enough care to differentiate the product, and they got only one product in each of the segments i.e. Discover 100/125/150, then you got Discover 100T/125ST, which are priced such that they can't be compared to Discover 100/125 or even 150. Thought I was explaining to you! if you can't see the logic, then it's just your emotion blocking your view.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostI can't come to terms with that mate. Its not emotion, it is my opinion. Some may think 6 bikes in the same segment is ok, but not me and I'm sure there are many others who would agree with me.Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostThought I was explaining to you! if you can't see the logic, then it's just your emotion blocking your view.2013 R15(Sold) | 2014 Duke 390 (Sold) | 2022 Adv 390 | 2022 Ninja 300

Could you tell me why they are going to be in same segment? To me it looks like there are atleast 3 different segments 100cc, 125cc & 150cc.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostIts not emotion, it is my opinion. There's already a discover 100T and 125ST here, are they going to add more and more to that? Even if its going to be replaced, I still believe it is better to have 1 model for each rather than many. Let's wait and see how good their plan goes. I personally think that they would be getting good sales figures only from few of the models they are going to release. Some might even fail. But let's wait and see.Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostCould you tell me why they are going to be in same segment? Yes, there was already Discover 100/125/150 before 100T/125ST, isn't it? a 150st along with replacements/upgrades for Discover 100/125/150 is going to be logical next step. This will give much needed boost for Discover line-up to take on commuter segment. However, what's more interesting to me is how they are going to replace/upgrade the Pulsar series as 125ST/150ST are almost stepping into Pulsar zone. They will have to make sure price/performance wise, Pulsar is clearly differentiated from Discover.Originally posted by Ezilkannan View PostThere's already a discover 100T and 125ST here, are they going to add more and more to that? Re: Bajaj launch spree to start from July - 1 new bike to be launched in every 6-8 we
I'm quite sure they would best keep the two bikes away from each other. A discover is much more economical commuter bike unlike pulsar. I hope they don't go haywire with their designs. I'm going to wait and watch. Ain't gonna get any discovers/pulsars myself, but still I'm going to watch these upcoming models closely.Originally posted by vrugonnab View PostYes, there was already Discover 100/125/150 before 100T/125ST, isn't it? a 150st along with replacements/upgrades for Discover 100/125/150 is going to be logical next step. Re: Bajaj launch spree to start from July - 1 new bike to be launched in every 6-8 we
Replacement of older generation of Discovers would be welcome. However what i am worried about is if the replacement takes the shape of
-> new discover series engine with old discover clothes
or
-> old discover engine with new discover clothes
If upgrades happens to be any of the above they are going to fail for sure. I just hope they genuinely come out with proper upgrades / replacement.
We possibly know that 150st along with new D100/125/150 will be 4 out of 6 discovers to be launched. Question is what the other 2 Discovers are.

bajaj is smart at not over straining their technical staff and getting the higher end bikes thru partnerships (ninja's and duke's)..
looks like a case of 'kanna rendu ladoo thinna aasayaa' !
