re: Bajaj Auto plans 6 Discovers, 2 Pulsars for 2014: xBhp News

If you think Bajaj will be busy launching 2 Pulsars, 6 Discovers, 1 or 2 KTMs in this financial year, then think again. It seems Bajaj will be in news headlines for new launches for whole of this financial year. A specially convened inter ministerial group (IMG) on Wednesday approved the lightweight four-wheel vehicle to be used as public transport vehicles within city limits. This means now Bajaj has approval to launch the RE60 in Indian market.

How soon will you start production of RE60?

    Very soon.
If that is not all, then Bajaj is readying to unviel an all new range of three wheelers which shall replace entire existing range of three wheelers.

I hope you are just quoting the intended use of this 4 wheeler as Auto. However if your pointing on the development side that this is an outcome of just adding a fourth wheel to the current auto then its not correct. Its completely different vehicle developed from scratch. Bajaj has employed few R&D tech guys from Europe for this, the details of which you can get from linkedln. Its a hybrid chasis which is very light and employs four valved watercooled engine. It has completely different type of suspension setup when compared to three wheelers. Mr Bajaj has mentioned that this platform is very flexible as this can be used even for a three wheeled auto. And this is what i think Bajaj will be launching in the coming days.

Bajaj Auto, which first showcased the RE60 at the Auto Expo in 2012, is believed to have invested Rs 500 crore in developing the quadricycle platform.....
Bajaj Auto says the RE60 is safer than the everyday autorickshaw and that it even emits lesser CO2. .....
The RE60 is constructed on a lightweight, metal-polymer monocoque, which keeps the vehicle’s kerb weight at just under 400kg. Power will come from a 200cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled rear mounted four-stroke DTS-i engine, which is good for approximately 20bhp......
Its 2.75m length, 1.3m width and 3.5m turning circle radius should make it very good for manoeuvring in city traffic.......

this is fantastic news, if true... half a dozen new pulsars mean, the existing line-up of pulsars will be entirely revamped.

6 all new Discovers to be launched from 2 new platforms

Additional information on 6 new Discovers. Source : MC

The new Discover D125T which was launched few days back is not part of the 6 new Discovers to be launched this year. It seems Bajaj has developed two completely new platforms for this purpose and 6 all new vehicles will be launched between July to Dec. Infact production of first two vehicles has already begun. Following are the quotes from interview with Rajiv Bajaj.

Towards that purpose, we have been working for the last two years to create a new platform, infact two new platforms, which will yield us six new Discovers in this financial year. The first two of them we have just started production, just in the last few days both at our Aurangabad as well as at our Pantnagar plants. We have another big launch coming up by September, that will be the third Discover, new Discover this year and then in the second half, mostly in the Q3, we will launch the other three.
I would like to believe so because these six new bikes are really very nice, all new motorcycles, all under the brand Discover.
So now its clear that Bajaj was not falling into the trap of releasing bikes with just new paints or stickers. Now we just need to wait and watch what and how these bikes are.

So next six months Bajaj is going to launch 6 new Discovers, 2 New Pulsars, 2 new three wheeler platforms and if all goes well the first of the four wheeler RE60. Pretty busy schedule ahead for Bajaj.

its good that both hero and bajaj is on a launch spree to ward off japanese threats.

however, since i own a P200NS, i will certainly be angry if we get to see an upgraded 200NS so soon..

I hope so as it has been mentioned by Bajaj that two faired bikes will be released by this end and also last year one month after the launch of 200NS they made a statement that a faired version of the 200NS will be out by next year, so I guess that makes sense here, either it should be a 200SS which I am 95% sure or else it must be a 250 or a 300cc. . .

PS: Come on guys stop speaking about discover as we all know, there will be no new looking discover, just the same old copy and paste of the 125st with different names and other changes, but visually they are all the same , so let's continue with the Pulsars. . .

                            Cheers!!!

We can not simply relay on bajaj statement. Once the P375 ns or ss hit the road only we can say anything about the new variants. Even yamaha told they would launch their 250cc. What happened to that?

250cc from Yamaha, what's that I guess I heard it around 15-20 years back, BTW does it even exist. . ? PS: Just kidding here . . .

Okay let's drop off those words but at least let's consider this, they have said two supersports from Bajaj in the brand name of Pulsar will be launched and both will be full faired, so one is as all of us know is the 375 which will be based on the KTM duke 390's engine (if I am not wrong here) and most probably as I said there's nothing wrong by adding a fairing to the present pulsar to make it more aerodynamic and make it even faster. . . Why I am saying this is that they have mentioned that both the bikes are the fastest in their segments, so looking at the present market, 250 NO, cos it's ruled by Ninja and now by CBR250R and 300 definitely NO, again it's ruled by Ninja 300, so there's no other option other than a 200SS which makes more sense and adding a fairing will make it to go faster and it'll be the fastest in the 200cc segment as presently, the bikes in that segment aren't that fast and also 375 will be the fastest in its segment considering it's a faired one compared to a naked D390, so more speed. . . Hope you got my points and as we say, we just got to wait and watch. . .

                                Cheers!!!
