I called the KTM Adyar Showroom and they say that they will deliver the first 5 bikes in the second week of August. I am expecting them to get at least 15 bikes in the first lot which means I will probably get mine towards the end of August :/

Bro, what is the engine oil capacity? Which oil comes filled from the factory? What is the spark plug used, the make and model number if you can arrange. And do you know the size of the front sprocket? The rear is 46 as far as I was informed.
Sorry for bombarding you with questions but while I am waiting for my 390 to be delivered I'll get a few things I need like NGK iridium plugs, Motul 300v and if possible a smaller front sprocket. If you can just compare the front sprocket with a Duke 200's while you go for the first service? The size and the mounting holes.
I am keeping my fingers crossed and just wish they are a direct fit with the 200's front sprocket being a tooth smaller.

L&L agreement is not accepted. I faced the same issue when I had to register my ZMR in 2010. You will need to get an Affidavit made in the local Tahsildal/Sub Divisional/Collector office (whatver it is called). Just go to your nearest RTO office. There should be agents roaming around there. Ask an agent to help you in making the necessary Affidavit that serves as local address proof for bike registration. He will understand what you need! He will take you to the govt office where it can be done. The person at the counter will click your photo and give you the affidavit. It will be in Marathi so you won't understand it! You will need to pay a small fee at the govt office and few hundred rupees (negotiatable) to the agent. You can do it without the agent too, but it will be more difficult since you are not a localite. At least this is what I did in Pune.

Metzelers are far superior since they are 'stickier' tyres than the MRFs. The catch with sticky tyres is that they will wear out faster. So if the sales guy meant that the tyre will last for more kilometers, that will not be the case. Expect a life of maximum 12,000 kilometers.

I went to Noida Showroom the guy told me exactly the same thing about the delivery, but he told me that 1st lot of bikes will have 15 bikes.
Not sure whats cooking inside the factory.

No, even if somehow we are able to fit the 160/60, they would end up looking even more round. Think of it like squeezing a broader tyre on a narrow rim. The surface area being more and same area to hold on to the tyre. The tire would end up bulging out making it look even more round and would also spoil the riding dynamics.
The 160/70 would spoil the gearing and handling way too much and I don't think would even fit the 4".

Edit: Also things like clearance would come into play the more upsize we plan to do.

What if we put a 160/70 just to offset that super round?Because higher profile means more sidewall which should aid i guess?
One more thing the hyosung gt650r bridgestones which are 160/60 looks massive. Think its shod on 4.5 inch rims?

Hi,

What document are you giving for registration, I'm presently living in mumbai and I'm originally from varanasi hence my passport has varanasi address. I've registered L&L agreement and post paid mobile bill of vodafone. But KTM vashi and kanjurmarg both guys are saying they need either passport or voter id or lic for registration otherwise I'll have to give 3000-3500 rupees to register under WAP(without address proof). I don't want to give this bribe. Do you know what documents are actually required ??

Exactly what I want, but a 4" wheel for a 160 section in not adviced. Already the 150 section tyres set in a very rounded profile due to the not so wide wheel. Even if somehow we fit a 160 it won't do much good to the way it looks or handles. Need a 4.5" atleast.

Yesterday I got a call from Rajpath Ktm Bhubaneswar about my booking of my bike.they told me that they will deliver me the bike on august last week.after that they asked me a strange question. They told me to pay full amount and billing will be done directly from the company but but but they will deliver me the bike on august last week.
I asked them is in't a stupid request. Why should one pay for what they are not getting.
Another question arises on my mind there are 70 ktm outlets in india and according to some forums and other showroom guys I got an unconfirmed news that they are getting 8 bikes per showroom which is almost 560 bikes, with strikes and all bla bla chakan plant can't produce 50 bikes per day in 30 days???
First of all they shuts the reviews from all the blogs and forums.and now they want money from us to run their plants.what are they upto?
Isn't it looking too much fishy or I will say in hindi "Dal mai kuch kala hai", ya "puri dal he kali hai".
I am amongst the first in odisha to book a bike and now this stupidity and nonsense they are talking.
Why they are charging 4k as a cancellation fees when there is so much demand for the bikes:thumbdown:
They are talking heavy 30k amount for a booking and then they are showing us a :thumbdown:
Royal Enfield too take 5k for booking for a 500cc classic but they won't charge you a penny for cancellation and all.

Sorry for jumping into the conversation.
I am too 6ft and I hope my experience with 390 and 200 might help.

Knee Recess: It is not great. My knees rubbed onto the edge of the tank shrouds which is little uncomfortable. but if you sit little more behind the seat, you knee will come under that edge and its is OK then. I had this problem in all the pulsar lines, ninjas. The only bikes I found with proper knee recess were Karizma, CBR, Xtreme and R15 for a 6ft guy.

Rear set: Not much of an issue there, will take time to get used to it. KTM has placed them quite behind so that there is little bit of pressure on the ankle. Better than R15 though. I rode 200 for almost 80kms at once, at the end of the night I felt cramp on my thigh, I was not sure if it was because of the seating of Duke or some other.

I am still going with the bike, because both the above issues are which I can deal with some minor adjustment and they are not deal breakers for me at least for this VFM bike.

I believe one of the reasons why MRFs were replaced with Metzelers was the fact that Metzelers perform much better in mixed conditions like slush and rain. The ABS might save you while braking, but if you whack the throttle open at lean in wet conditions, there's a good chance that the rear will spin up and loose grip. That's where I believe the advantage of Metzelers will come in. The data I posted was from Visordown's Metzeler Sportec M5 Interact review.
I also think since ABS is there, the chances of tyre wear under hard braking would be minimized due to lesser lock-ups. What do you guys think?

Precisely what is holding me from booking the 390! Still trying to figure out the cost of maintaining the bike per year and tyres are one thing that is driving the cost up! Not sure if there is any other component that might be this expensive and would need replacement for maintenance.
