Hi , I am using discover 2004 .... booked ktm duke 390 , after riding duke 200 . Big change. Need to learn a lot about a heavy bike like duke 390.

Good point , however performance wise change is from 1st floor to 10th. so worried..

Bajaj discover is like 125kg if i remember correctly. Duke 390 is 138kg. I don't think that the weight difference will be very noticable, given that the Duke is mass centralized.

same here, have been a LB500 rider for years, I being a 6ft rider, need to gwet my brake pedal adjusted downward,so i can horizontally pivot on and off the pedal, i'll get it done on first service.

ABS feels good, specially the rear tyre, you can feel the ABS kicking in. I am falling in love with the sound by the day, specially over 5k rpm, the bike sounds awesome. can't wait for the akrapovic's, since i have the bike now

Lol ok, this surely will sound funny, but i dont have a cam, even the picture i put up was from my friends cam, but, let me arrange one and come saturday, I'll post some nice pictures, any pune boys want to join me for a ride to lavasa? I was planning to give my bike in for servicing next monday, I should be in Goa for Eid!! on the 9th and then delhi on the 15th, hopefully, a couple of long ride/short ride reviews coming up soon....

and, came back from a short 50k city ride and my bike looks like it's back from a super wet motocross stage....i've had my fair share of riding in the rain, now really want the sun to take over, cant wait for a fast hill ride around pune on dry tarmac!! the bike just keeps surprising you!! when you think you've got enough power from "that" gear, the bike gives you some more everygear!! The world seems to go crazy around you after 7k rpm!! after 5k it's crazy enough as well....

today went over a bad patch, gravel,slush,potholes aaaand it was raining. the bike handled brilliantly well, i was doing 60. but i heard some plastic chatter again, will check tomorrow.

Hi Naseer, I'm also on the same boat. Earlier Bullet rider, now need to get back to the fast power deliveries. I adapted quickly to the footrest and the brake (maybe since I had some short stints on the Duke 200 earlier. I still need to get used to the optimal rev band though. What's the showroom telling you about the delivery status?

Coming back to the test ride, we got a good stretch of road, with hardly any traffic. the bike was being ripped by all the test riders. Still there was not much of engine heat. weather was cool and cloudy with occasional light drizzle, as usual of Bangalore. sitting on the bike, the seat height, handle bar position felt fine. However, i was left searching for the foot rest. the clutch pull felt just about right, and the gear was engaged with nice assurance. Accelerated slowly, as i was not sure what to expect from a 43 bhp bike. took about 200 mts to acclimatise with the controls, and started playing with it. Playing as it felt like a toy. a very light and fast toy. the bike accelerates like crazy. its so rev happy, urges one to test their limits, rather then the bikes. 50 comes in no time in the first gear. doubt if 4,5,and 6th will be used in the city conditions. the braking felt sharp and sure, really confidence inspiring. tried running it slow in 5 and 6, but thats not the bike's forte. starts lugging and begs to be revved. Tried some hard breaking, but could not manage to engage the abs. ( guess did not brake hard enough, as the guy testing before me warned me to use caution while braking). handling felt sweet and nimble. did not feel any unwanted vibes. In just about 2 kms i was already feeling at home with the bike.

VERDICT: i am NOT cancelling my booking. pretty happy with the test ride, and looking forward to the delivery.

DISCLAIMER: for the last 6 years, i have been riding only Enfields. A classic 500 for last 3 yrs. So obviously my experience with the test ride is somewhat related. For eg, hunting for the foot rest on the 390. Also, i will have to adapt a bit, learn and un-learn some to ride in the 390, as its so very different from what i am used to riding. But i feel the transition is going to be smooth and quick.
coming to some points which might be helpful to fellow bulleteers. This is not a comparison per say, but just my feelings. The 390 feels light like a toy. the 390 feels more then twice as fast the c5. the 390 is as still as stork compared to the bulls. 390 felt as refined as extra virgin olive oil. much precise in braking, handling, cornering etc. Will have to munch some miles to get a more realistic idea, but from the test ride, aal izz well.

Didnt get you. Do you mean you felt a taller rider will be more at ease? Or are you saying the bike could be bigger to accomodate your height better?
