Yeah, but this I think is the first time to happen after a product launch before even the first delivery. It could mean there were lapses in their QC.Originally posted by DeVille View Post
This is quite common in the gadget industry where smartphones are initially tested as prototypes and later upgraded with the latest SW/ OS/ build and tested again to correct the bugs. Maybe they've remapped the ECU?

It's got a typical short stroke characteristic. The low end torque is not exceptional, though it's sufficient. The power surge upwards of 4k rpm is lip-smacking and gets truly menacing near redline!
I consider myself lucky to get a test-ride.Sarcasm is my automatic response to stupidity.

Duke 390 launched at Kochi showroom yesterday (8/7/13) at Rs 1.84 lacs ex-showroom,
on the road price about 2 lacs. To me orange color for trellis frame is just about right but
orange for the wheels looks too tacky for my taste, that is too much orange if you ask me. Black
wheels with orange trellis would have been just about perfect. I guess I will wait till they come
up with black wheels to exchange my Duke 200 or 390.Last edited by mohan-san; 07-10-2013, 12:04 AM.sigpic

Collect your token and get to the back of the line broOriginally posted by shehbaaz View PostIm gonna go and book a 390 tomorrow.
Can anyone say in how many days will I get the bike?
I am gonna take the bike from mumbai
hehehe.. for those who booked on release day, deliveries are slated around last week of this month. If you book now, it will most likely be by the end of August but max wait is 90days as per the booking agreement.
@Price_Increase Speculators. Please see the full release video, it has been categorically made clear that no price increase is on the cards now or the near future.
@Why_Hold_Review Speculators: If you have read around enough, you would understand that the reason the indepth long term reviews has been asked to be on hold is because of timing as many of the major news media outlets have yet to release their short term reviews. Stop making up conspiracy theories. If anyone tests their bikes extensively before announcing it's launch or even giving it to reviewers, it's Bajaj.
@Factrory_Strike Speculators: KTM production is inline with expectation as per Bajaj. This was one of the reason for shifting Pulsar production out of Chakan so as to use whatever little workforce they had to dedicatedly build Primarily KTMs, Ninjas and Avengers. This doesn't require the huge number or workforce that is on strike which is not the same story for pulsar range
@General Speculators: This is not a speculation thread, please keep your imaginations in your head and refrain from putting them into words unless you have a credible sourceLast edited by Cyrus_the_virus; 07-09-2013, 09:03 PM.

I don't think its a rule or a protocol to have initial impressions from other major publications before we have a detailed road test published on XBhp or any online forum. All are independent entities. Maybe the mods can clarify this.@Why_Hold_Review Speculators: If you have read around enough, you would understand that the reason the indepth long term reviews has been asked to be on hold is because of timing as many of the major news media outlets have yet to release their short term reviews.

I agree it's not a protocol breaker.. I wish I could post the link to the "other forum" where the reviewer kinda mentions this and ask ppl to calm down as there is no conspiracy behind this..Originally posted by NitinGirish View PostI don't think its a rule or a protocol to have initial impressions from other major publications before we have a detailed road test published on XBhp or any online forum. Yup, no conspiracy but they could have been more open about it. Don't understand why press is playing ball along with the manufacturer here. It makes me question the credibility of these "reviews" now. Fortunately though, test rides are offered for this bike. So the buyer can form his opinion based on 1st hand experience.A lone amateur built the ark. A large group of professionals built the Titanic...

re: KTM Duke 390 Launched in India at Rs 1.8 Lakhs: xBhp News
Believe it or not, I spotted a Duke 390 in Lonavala with TC registration on 7th July at around 9:00 AM. I had been on a ride with my buddies and had stopped for a smoke just before the 'ghats' start. The guy was fully geared and had a pillion. He was riding cautiously around 40kph and honestly, I didn't like the way it sounded one bit.
All in all non enthusiasts will never know if the D390 is actually or 390 or 200 since the only saving grace for the 390 is its tacky Orange wheels and '390' branding on the tank

Agreed mate! The exhaust note does no justice to a machine like Duke...it is horrible and an insult to the Duke's personality - no offence to any Duke lovers, I myself am a fan of the Duke but always hated they way it sounds...it is similar to a autorickshaw with a blown silencer
