Yes Hd is a different market and people who plan to buy Hd or other high end bikes are generally well informed.
However I still believe that 500cc cruiser segment' and Hd will struggle to draw customers away from RE.

      Like bolero is more powerful
      than a 2l cruze or 1.6l verna
I think most people would not spend 4lac for 500cc since RE 500 is available in half as much. For them same cc- same power.

I have heard people argue that 1000cc of maruti is equal to sbk 1000cc. Only there acclerator cable is shorter to give good milage.

think its more to do with the Brand Identity than anything else , get big boys in , create an Identity , more bikes on road , and once you have enough eye balls , bring the cheaper one , 3-4lakhs for a 500 is still more than 1.4 lakhs (RE) !! unless its for a LOGO (read iPhone)

And the bike looks ugly , what with the flaring !!!! and the obnoxious alloy on the 750 , keep it simple idiots !

      cheers

Bloody brilliant stuff. Now is the time for people to start saving and owning a Harley.

        Cheers!

              LOL

Well you are right...everything sells for cc in India. Most of the buyers wiil not consider the bhp and torque of any bike so many will be inclined towards RE since its priced low.

I really am not into the Cruiser market, so I'm pretty ok with the looks... They appear mostly fine to me. But am I really alone, if I say the headlight could've been designed much better?
And one more thing, could it be really K&N filter in that air box? That pink colored filter seems like K&N...

And from the looks of it, it appears that both the machines share the same platform in terms of engine and frame. Urban focus should mean good low end torque, instant response, mileage, cooler operating temperatures, etc. Let's see what it will be.

                how bhp is 500cc n 750cc ?
I think Harley Davidson only gives torque figures. In any case, we'll have to wait to get the power figure.

In this its given that the 500cc would have upwards of 40bhp and the 750cc upwards of 52bhp

Once we get the prices, maybe opinions will change. BTW, I would say, it is a nice move whatsoever.
Personally, I am not into cruisers but I get influenced easily too......

looks hideous to me (no offense intended to anyone)

in the entire HD arsenal i like the 48,iron and night rod only
                        48 being the best

but again if the pricing is right this should sell pretty well

i honestly feel, most of the companies coming to INDIA think that any thing priced cheap will sell. There is no denying that it does hold true a lot of times, but what really amazes me is the fact that a lot of these companies do not even care about their legacies. They are just interested in selling their stuff, capture markets, its all business. No biking spirit left. its really sad.

                            Nice,
                            a 500cc harley

Looks like 2014 is going to be an interesting year for motorcycles
with the CBR500(X/R/F) and now the harley 500cc

Also the design looks quite appealing too.
It's also said they are going to be putting this 500cc engine into the current sposters ( superlow and iron).
Let's hope though that they go for the sub 4 lakh segment.

                            Good newsm Indeed.

Looks good, not all that great. The headlight for sure need a makeover, it does not look good at all.

I ain't a cruiser guy but would definitely like to applaud Harley Davidson for having guts to start manufacturing a big bike in India. Street series introduces new liquid cooled V Twin engine which is not present in the current HD line up. Street 750 if sold less than 5 Lakhs would surely be another success story for Harley in Indian cruiser market.

From CBU to CKD to manufacturing bikes in India, Harley has surely taken all the right steps for the Indian market. Let's hope we see them manufacturing few of their current bikes as well in India. Again, that might depend on how good reception the Street 750 receives.
