Re: Harley Davidson 500 and 750cc Launched: xBhp News
This will really bring some tough competition in India. Spl. the cruiser segment, which has been totally ignored by 90% of motorcycle companies till now. I wonder if some other companies will launch their cruiser bikes after seeing the sales for HD 750 in India and at a lower priceOriginally posted by mohan-san View PostSo start saving guys.

Re: Harley Davidson 500 and 750cc Launched: xBhp News
Read below and if that really turns out to be true then we need to settle down all the hype and hoopla going around for HD500 and it's 40+ bhp expectation. The below post alludes mere 26bhp from HD500
and the bike in picture according to them is 99% close to production form and does it look good? .
World Exclusive: 2014 Harley-Davidson Street 500 Review | RideApart
If 26bhp is what we would get from HD500 after spending around 3+ lakhs, then HD surely haven't got it right (at least the looks for sure).
But still a speculation.Last edited by gyan_recl350; 11-23-2013, 12:50 AM.

Hell, my KTM Duke 200 has about that much BHP . I guess I am
going to have to curb my enthusiasm for these two HD Street bikes then.
Besides who wants to haul all that weight around on our crappy roads.
Oh well, I stick with KTM bikes.
BTW thanks for that RideApart review.Last edited by mohan-san; 11-25-2013, 09:34 PM.sigpic

"About half of a Sportster" -- what a bummer! If this is true then, I can't believe I am gonna say this, this will even be outdone by the upcoming RE Continental GT!
And an important quote from the guy in the article "The performance, utility, fit and finish and price of the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Honda CBR250R is considerably superior in every respect over this near-500 lbs offering from an upscale brand."

Re: Harley Davidson 500 and 750cc Launched: xBhp News
Indeed a bummer. I really have absolutely no idea what Harley has been thinking and expecting (again if that post turns out be true). Just a HD logo won't seal the deal at least if you offer petty 26 bhp from 3+ lakhs bike and 500 indeed absolutely looks like a rush project(as they say RUSHMORE projectOriginally posted by Satellite.kid View Post"About half of a Sportster" -- what a bummer! ). Appear as if HD sticked, whatever they could have laid there hands on to TVS Star city (personal opinion)
.
Not only cafe racer our any 500 RE is better than HD500 in that case and at least they look way better

Re: Harley Davidson 500 and 750cc Launched: xBhp News
This may sound a bit harsh but one has to be monumentally retarded to even consider this bike at a 5L OTR (probably even higher) price point. 26 bhp, 220+ kg and looks as repulsive as that? No, thanks.Bajaj Pulsar 150 : 2004-2005

Re: Harley Davidson 500 and 750cc Launched: xBhp News
Logically it does not make sense. i mean look at the configuration of twin pot, 500cc, liquid cooled, overhead cams, and all that metal weight.. the bike HAS to produce more power then 26. Even the UCE500 with single pot, long stroke, aircooled, pushrods, etc manages 27.2 bhp at crank. Cant buy the idea of street 500 managing just about 26.. Unless HD is planning some positioning strategy , and has highly detuned the bike. Or could that model be market or licensing specific? Anything less then 38bhp, and i am not interested.
RE is been surviving for a long long time now, and i am sure it will continue to do so in future. Only it may not sell as much as between 2010-2015.
Following is an interesting short film for every RE enthusiast. Do watch.

Re: Harley Davidson 500 and 750cc Launched: xBhp News
Same here. Doesn't go well. I mean forget engine, cam, blah blah blah. If we see it in terms of plain simple market perspective, it is no brainer that 26 bhp HD500 won't serve the purpose that too in present scenario when many eying Indian market and many already arrived. So neither this decision would help in present nor shape up the future. That would be bad business/market strategy from them, isn't it?Originally posted by nasirkaka View PostCant buy the idea of street 500 managing just about 26..

Re: Harley Davidson 500 and 750cc Launched: xBhp News
Street 750 has arrived in Goa to be launched on 5th Feb 2014 at Auto expo India. A first Harley Davidson in 13 years to use a all new platform. Harley outside USA manufacturing locally only in India, it shows how serious they are about auto market in India. But as known Harley owners are yet to get desired service level or post sale support.
The Street motorcycles use an all new platform, a first for Harley-Davidson in the past 13 years. While the Street 750 will be sold in India starting from 2014, the Street 500 will only go on sale next year.

Re: Harley Davidson 500 and 750cc Launched: xBhp News
is there any information to clearly highlight the difference between the 500 and the 750? A search on Google invariably brings up the generic press images (and launch pics, of course) and my best guess is that these are photos of the 750. So how does the 500 look? Is it still leaner?Originally posted by Divya Sharan View PostGo back the previos page or here - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/276...ml#post1014144
