Re: Harley Davidson 500 and 750cc Launched: xBhp News

Shocked after reading the review !!
How can they take such a risk of diluting their brand. Hoping that they rectify the issues as soon as possible.

This is not good, and I have to agree with some parts of Faisal's review.
Stuff like weld quality, exposed wires which I myself saw on the display bike at the Pune HD store.

I hope HD takes this feedback seriously, acts on it and does a revision before the bikes are handed over to the eagerly awaiting owners!
It is important for HD that this bike take off in terms of sales and any bad press right at the start will severely hurt that goal.

Re: Harley Davidson 500 and 750cc Launched: xBhp News

I have seen the motorcycle very closely in the HD showroom in Delhi, and I must say that the reviewer's feedback on the fit, finish and the build quality is spot on. The Street 750 does look very average in quality barring the engine which looks very well built. There are quite a few unprotected wires and white fuse switches clearly visibly when they should be appropriately hidden and secure.

Yes, the performance is probably very good and all, but when we buy a Harley we don't pay for the performance in the first place. We pay for the premium fit and build quality that has been part of each HD motorcycle so far.

Harley must take this feedback seriously, otherwise they have already disappointed many prospective owners.

Has anyone test ridden this bike? Anyone heard the exhaust sound first hand? The review also says that the braking is pathetic(breaks have the same make as the earlier pulsars ) and has also placed the hyosung aquila having better quality than this If a hyosung and a harley become comparable on the quality front, then Lord save the world!!
The way you ride is the way you are..

MRF tyres, a horribly un-harley exhaust note, dodgy brakes and it looks TINY.

The Street 750 is to Harley Davidson what Top Ramen is to Chinese food.

                  Alas, Third world problems.

Went for a test ride last week at tusker Harley Bangalore, went late because wanted the bike to cover 500 odd km for brakes and tyres to settle down.
Had read about lots of reviews about poor brakes but never gave it much importance, thought wouldn't be that bad, trusting HD.
To start of went to tusker Harley at about 5pm the bike was ready outside just signed a form and keys were handed over to me then started the bike the sound was ok but nothing special
Acceleration was good, but I was in for a shocker " the brakes" they are bad
                    Was really very very disappointed.
Anyways finished the test ride and did not feel good about it.
I had booked the 750 on 1st of march itself just trusting the brand.
But after the test ride I have cancelled my booking, here are my reasons:
                    1) poor brakes
Can't believe a750cc 50+ bhp bike having such poor brakes, just imagine we all have tested the bike in dry condition what about in wet?? It scares me
                    2) the fit and finish is nowhere near the superlow, with a price difference of less than 2L, that includes the extra duties that the SL pays I feel its just not worth
                    3) the seating position is good but the brake and the gear pedals did not feel in the right position for me
                    4) there was a " tik tik" sound when the bike is in idle, when asked about it the representative said that would be there.
I personally did not think much about the mrf tyres thought could always change them anytime if they did not do well but what could you do about the brakes??
So these were my reasons to cancel my booking for me personally i felt its a
                    " Harley trap"
my friendly advise to my friends at xbhp would be wait until they do something about these issues or look for some other options,
                    If you spend a extra 70k ninja650r
Or ninja300 you'll save some cash plus peace of mind lots of service centres and good performance, fit and finish.

One of my friend has 750, he is just not happy with the making and the finish. He is like.. only the engine rev sounds good, rest he is bit disappointed. I like HD bikes a lot especially the Iron but in my opinion, 750 is not upto HD standard. I suppose, price tag really makes a lot of difference.

I had clarified about the refund at the time of booking only, they had assured it will be a full refund.
650r is the logical choice in this price segment, but my mind was hell bent on a cruiser so GV650.
