Lets not ignite the battles more and move on to the latest news...

Mass production of R25 has began in Indonesia and bikes will probably reach dealers(of course dealers in Indonesia and not India) in the 3rd week of July.
What I can get out of translated matter is that 4 bikes will reach dealers for display purpose and deliveries may be in August.

In a way, this thread has been quite informative as it has equally supported both praise and criticism.
Definately helps in much better understanding of the product by the plethora of knowledge and views echoed by everyone.

Whoa !! Long discussion and we noobs are getting better insights into R25. Thanks guys.

BTW, Yamaha did mention it as 'Baby M1' but they also said 'A superbike you can ride everyday'. And, yes they have not designed it for hardcore track racing as we, average / non-professional riders, don't do it everyday. Also, if you look at the 250cc segment it is a premium bike for developing economies and a entry-level bike for developed economies. Most of the buyers/future owners of R25 will not be taking it to track every day. They will use it for the long tours, as we do it on our real track focussed R15V2s, or daily commute. And we all are quite aware of the fact that going for long rides with a track focussed bike does put pressure on our body. So they have gone for a tour focussed bike which will do equally well at those momentary track days. So tubular frame does make sense as the chassis.

After riding R15 I'm also a big fan of deltabox frame but to have that frame the seat posture would have to be changed which will not allow it to be used for long tours and also being easy in the body.

As far Yamaha legacy goes, be it tubular or Delta Box frame, the bike will handle superb. So I, personally, have no worries about it. it will be a gem of a bike with superb handling and more than enough power for Indian roads.

You are riding Yamaha bikes for quite a long as per your signature.
You have got problem if someone says wrong again R25.
You are ready to spend almost 2.7 to 3 l for a bike.

----I thought these could make oneself a fan. Different perspective. So cool.

Never knew there is a rule where it says "one has to be a fan of Yamaha to buy a Yamaha bike".. wow.. besides, I never mentioned I am not gonna buy it. Have I?

Again again, I am saying man...if this thread is to be an only info thread and no arguing/discussion. Then we would be happy to stay away from it.

As a true fan of Yamaha, we should be open to criticism as well.

And hell yeah, I expect a lot from Yamaha...I don’t compare it with CBR or Kawasaki or Bajaj or KTM. I don’t want to go that way. Every bike has its pros and cons. I am concerned about only R25. If you want a comparison with different co, let’s start a new thread and I will be happy to discuss.

i have watched it as close as possible they have fit the track fit body on the R25 which looks similar to the M1. thats all.

From the link you have posted, what I understand is the term "Baby M1" refers to "performance"

Don't we call Ninja 250 as a baby Ninja?? did it look anything like the elder siblings? at-least till the launch of Ninja 300..

I am not saying anything against what you are saying. but just saying why expect it to be the same when it is just a Track fitted body..

Here they have mentioned it as 'Baby M1'. And I can show you many such instances.

'Baby M1' is not one fan boy’s impression, the way Yamaha has marketed it and in there website only they have mentioned it.
I hope you have watched the video closely. Those 2 bikes were almost similar. So what is wrong with the expectation ?

No one is complaining about it being a sports-tourer kind of bike. The issue is what people have expected after seeing the Video. I am just saying on those points. If there is a shortcoming in that bike or not as per many ppl's expectation...what is wrong in that ?

People assume, hell they can assume anything. yamaha didnt say "M25" in the video. they redesigned the outer body for it to suit the masses. people who expected (or assumed) the same design in production were like "alice in wonderland". the r1 is the road version of m1 (tech and all) but does it look like m1? no right. and the r25 as shown in video is an r25 and not "m25" .

You can get the colour scheme though not sure if it will be in production

pretty sure they mean ride everyday on the city roads and not the track. their move to go for this frame would be that the deltabox demanded the all out race bike design and also putting the same or more pressure on the rider like the r15v2, hence they would have approached this. now they didnt cheat us of deltabox because they were pretty clear with the prototype that it wont have deltabox. I highly disagree with cost cutting theory. they can compromise on something else for cost cutting but the frame?

does this mean from here on it will be this design on the upcoming bikes? the front end i mean and not the whole bike. recently there was news about new r1 redesigned and being launched. yamaha did change their design few years back of the r1. and the r15 that was launched was based on the design of older r1 models (pre2004), the ffront end i mean.

I don't think Yamaha even mentioned anything about Baby M1 when they revealed the R25 with Rossi riding it.. it just had the race fit body if I am correct.. even in that video, the R25 didn't have a Delta box.. it was us who expected too much thinking it will look like the M1?? isn't the M1 a track bike?? they might give it the M1 looks if they are going to use the R25 in tracks..

When I first watched the video, i thought the video was about M1 and Rossi.. the moment they showed R25 with the name R25 and not Baby M1.. i was too excited like everyone here. but i knew it wasn't going to be the production model. it was just us who were coming to every conclusion about the bike and then blaming yamaha for not making it look like a M1..

again.. My question is.. who will be going on track every day? is it possible to ride a track bike in city traffic?? where our back will pain? Lets just wait and see on how the bike looks in flesh..

another reason could be Price cut?
