That is not the case right. Many bikes have design issues or perform lesser because of the engine/chassis and other factors.

I am also a Yamaha fan and I will book the bike the day it will launch in India but that should not stop me from saying what I didn't like or what could have been better.

If people did not complain about the smaller rear tyre and ask for sportier design for R15 (V1), Yamaha would not have come up with V2, right?

So, there is no issue in arguing in what people like or don’t like unless and until it is going nowhere.

If it’s expected that people will discuss only about the good things about the Bike, then this should not be a discussion thread rather an information thread. And that kind of information is available in thousands of places in internet, why would visit this thread then?

And the main thing, why is the comparison with M1 then....is there any similarity other than the Yamaha tag ?

These kind of questions are bound to come.
Thats the problem with this thread, any person who brings up/ discusses negative points on R25 will be pounced upon. Everyone knows that Yamaha pulls all the strings of heart when it comes to engines but as an overall package this bike is neither here (supersport) nor there(tourer) is what i feel, whats wrong in discussing shortcomings of a bike? why everyone pounces on person who says negative points? For sure there are some negatives for R25 whether everyone accepts or not is secondary.
You were spot on with V1 and V2 R15 point, look at the changes and how beautiful V2 is and it happened because of feedback from market.
Yamaha knows it has fan base who are ready to pay premium for special bikes then why make compromises?
However, I'm 90% fixated on buying this bike, will reserve my comments until i ride it.

Are you sure what you're saying? If tires would have been for visual appeals only, SBK owners, who want better mileage than looks, should have already changed to smaller section tyres. Companies like Michelin, Pirelli would not have invested so much on their R&D departments. We would not have to worry about tyre's performance and worn out tyres.

Yes I agree. But whatever R&D has done, and I am sure they have done a great job as always, I would still suggest that deltabox frame will always rank above tubular frame, the reason of it being present in M1.

But you just can't say that Tubular frame is better than Delta box when a R series bike is considered and comparison with M1 is made.
Delta Box is better than tubular frame and that's without any doubt. But as this is mostly designed as an everyday SBK, I guess tubular frame is the best way to go for, mostly in term of cost effectiveness.

That's your assumption. But in reality the performance of V2 is better than V1. Please clarify from a pro.
And tyre is just a visual thing not part of design ? Again, please reconsider your statement.

totally agree with Kuntal. I remember talking to him about booking the bike in bulk the day it is launched. When its an open forum, discussions will be there.
On another note, frankly all of us were eagerly waiting for an upgrade to r15. Now the question is WHEN? its been long since they came up with something new apart from colors. when almost all the comapnies have shifted to bigger displacement bikes, Why not speed it up when I suppose they know India is thriving market for two wheelers. Mebbe they have a strategy or are in the pipelien to launch something new. We did see honda launching new cbr overseas but not here.
RnD people are there to worry about the frame, swingarm, forks. How many of us go for a weekend ride on twisties to test or rather experience the frame? I have seen people going gung-ho on the corners while riding pulsars. No offence to the pulsar riders. ( I rode one for 5 years) Does it make any difference? if you are not on the track and have a deltabox frame, diamond frame, tube frame . yes forks matter when it comes to comfor and the ease of riding over uneven roads. on the looks. Yes they do matter. you not gonna put in 3L to but a bike which looks ugly. some crazy heavy a**ed metal behemoth driving on the road powered by a puny 250cc engine. No right ?
i wont come to baby M1 comapro, it was may be only limited to the color scheme (that too rather sheepishly, not a big deal about that when we have comapnies claiming their bike to be the best in class etc.
Initially I did like the bike but then I was expecting something more agreesive in seating position than r15. It was my expectation like we all have about some or the other thing. There's a fair amount of healthy discussion going on which is sane enough , taking into consideration that we have diff likes when itcomes to the biek scenario.

    Cheers all.

Cost control. The 250/300cc market is currently more competitive and price sensitive than the 125/150cc market. So, while companies like Yamaha can go all out and give upside down forks/perimeter frame in their R125s and R15s, they are required to make certain calculated compromises (as it might seem) to control production cost and sales price while delivering almost save levels of handling and performance.

The guys here clamouring for a deltabox as though that is the next best thing to heaven, do you really think Yamaha R&D would not know this fact and whether it suits R250 for that matter. If they decided that tube frame is good for R250 then it is so, unless we have other reliable data.

Looking at the stance, I don't expect it to be a track machine too. It's pretty heavy but that's what's attractive this time around for touring.

This thread gets recurring posts Every few days and its the same discussion. looks like this has to be closed til the bike is launched. Not sure from where you people get so much time to think all this.

Hardly seen anyone discussing about the bike and what it has rather discussion about what it should have been and what not.

Regarding the looks. I understand that we care about the looks, I do, in my opinion putting the r15 fairing over another bike does not make that bike to perform better or same as r15. I guess we have seen that trend. Remove ninja250 and r25 fairing and put some other bikes fairings they will stil perform their best. We are concerned about how we look, yes, but here we are talking about "clothes" and "shape" and not face alone.

Wondering who is going to ride in tracks everyday! Touring. Yes, people do it whenever they want but tracks? Give the bike a chance to grow over you. We havent seen the bike in flesh, have we? Again, looks are subjective. Handling.. being a yamaha, i am pretty sure its going to be one of the best in its class.. lets wait and see for ourselves before commenting on it any further..

Agreed the bike looks a bit Honda-ish, but it will grow on you (I've certainly started liking it's looks). It's an ideal machine for most of us Indian folk. We can ride it daily and also tour on it without any worries. And stop assuming that it would handle badly just because it hasn't got a deltabox chassis. Who knows, Yamaha might surprise all of us [emoji57]

Agree on all points bro. R15 owners have waited a very very long time to get this upgrade from Yamaha. And from whatever information we have it is a promising upgrade. Yes, Yamaha goofed up when they added the 'R' to the bike. Coz the 'R' gives out a completely different signal and sets your expectation to a much higher level when it comes to looks of a bike.

Yamaha set a philosophy of making a sports bike which you can ride everyday and keeping this as a central idea R25 is designed as it is. Not so forward leaning posture. Doing away with Deltabox etc.
On the second hand, this is a twin and produces some serious horses. Given R15 experience Yamaha, hopefully, will not compromise on the riding experience.
Looks again are subject to personal opinion. That rear could be more meaner but I can make do with that as far I get an eargasm on 12k rpm in the 5th.

R25 is targeted at SEA market. And Yamaha has something in wraps for US and EU markets.

For sure it is not going to cost 2 lakhs or even somewhere near.
Yamaha may price it between 2.7 to 3 lakh considering the twin cylinder engine and parts import cost...
