The way Yamaha promoted/marketed R25 is unique and awesome.
But definitely this is not baby M1, not at all. The main thing i.e. Chassis is different and even the whole look and feel.
When they launched the ad with baby M1 tag, we thought it would be pure race machine with R series Delta Box and sporty sitting posture.
But it turned out to be tubular and it’s a SBK which you can ride every day. The sitting posture is also much more relaxed than the R series bikes.
Nevertheless, although the chassis is compromised (!!), hope the handling will not be.

yep that's one (optimistic) way to think about it, but pretty much nothing else in the bike seems to be experimental or "trying new things" type infact things are far more conventional in general...besides, tubular is more conventional than deltabox so it doesnt seem like one could look at this as an RnD exercise on a motorcycle that they intend many people in asia will commute everyday with :-)

as i said i am not in doubt about it, am sure the tubular would handle as good as one expects from yamaha bikes for most purposes/riding habits and am curious about it as well, but every bike in R series (and several non-R ones as well) is a deltabox so it's just curious that they chose to go the more conventional tubular way instead of the deltabox (or something else that's less conventional in the spirit of trying new things)...

regarding the 3cyl MTs not being 4 cyl - yes that's rather something that could be seen as them trying and developing new things because 3 cyl is not conventional by any means..

man those are the words from some of the employees of a major corporate company..of course they are gonna say it irrespective of whether they truly feel so or not :-)

they also said the R25 would be a baby M1 while in reality it doesnt seem anything like a baby M1 (or even R1) so far..real good 250 sure, the best one in the segment ever in our less advanced markets of south and south east asia, but not a proper/hi-end sportbike to give it the tag as big and mighty as "baby M1" etc...all that's advertising and of course they are only going to say confident things about it. :-)

Its called "developing new things" . they are a company who will keep experimenting and making new things. why else would they have RnD department. they made the 3-cyl bikes, now why not ask them why they didnt stick to 4-cyl. its a big gamble they have played with this new chassis and also they way they say they are confident about it makes me wait and test it rather questioning it now.

LOL , i was thinking of the same for few secs when i saw this for the first time few days back but thank god the revamped FZs is making rounds so without a doubt its gonna be FZs with FI. not sure if it will be called FZ 2.0 though.

Yamaha is launching FZ's version 2 on june 30th.

It would definitely be some bike for sure this time around. Remember the launch date of R15? It was in the month of June as well. Yamaha seems to love launching new bikes in June month. My guess is the FZ V2. R25 is still far away. Testing has just begun whereas FZ V2 has already been tested for quite some time now.

As per my coversation with yamaha service center guy.
30th june is launch date of FZ 2.0,
R25 is couple of months away from launch.
But who know, what yammi have in store.

yeah am sure it being yamaha the tubular chassis will enable as good as possible a handling but i still don't understand why they couldn't just make it a deltabox like all their other R series bikes (and several other non-R series bikes as well, if not all)...

curious to know what really made them decide to not go for their standard deltabox and instead make the R25 a tubular framed bike.
