  • Mahindra Mojo previewed to dealers, expected to launch soon

Mahindra Mojo made its public debut in 2010 when the company unveiled the motorcycle along with a commuter product, the Stallio. However, because of technical difficulties, the company could not launch the motorcycle then. This year, Mahindra introduced a reworked Mojo at the 2014 Auto Expo in Delhi. Since then, we have witnessed dozens of spy images of the motorcycle being tested. But now, the Mojo is nearing its launch as the company showcased the motorcycle at a dealer meet. Mahindra Mojo is powered by a 295cc, four stroke, single cylinder, liquid cooled engine with Dual Overhead Camshaft (DOHC). The engine is capable of producing maximum power of 27 bhp at 8,000 rpm and a peak torque of 25Nm at 6,500 rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6 speed gearbox.
Mahindra is offering this product to take on the likes of Suzuki Inazuma and KTM Duke. Mahindra has loaded the Mojo with premium accessories such as upside down suspensions, daytime running LED lights and LED tail lamps. The motorcycle will sport front and rear disc brakes. A dual exhaust was also spotted in number of pictures. The Mojo will come with Pirelli Sport Demon tyres. On board, the Mojo has an analogue tachometer along with digital speedometer, fuel meter and trip meter. So, would you opt for the new Mahindra Mojo or would you prefer to buy tried and tested Japanese and Austrian products? Share your thoughts and opinions through comments below.

Looks good. I hope people just don't give it a miss just because it's a Mahindra.

There are so few service center for mahindra bikes.
I am scare whether it will have the same faith as Hyosung bikes? Service and maintenance is what is more important than buying a bike!

Though I personally don't like the design, feeling good for Mahindra!
If the engine and gearbox is good(and in India pricing too), rest of the things fall in place of a bike. Let's see.

Mahindra's Centuro engine is not that refined and not that frugal also, i hope they have done there homework properly with this bike as this bike caters to premium segment and there are already some big Daddy present in this segment, any kind of glitch in the product, and the product will topple.

They have been testing my patience since 2010 when it was showcased in Autoexpo 2010.. expecting a lot from Mahindra as they have been getting the engine for more than 4 straight years.. lets hope that the Indian Manufacturer has got what it takes to at-least near to par of Japs.. if I love this bike in flesh and if the pricing is competitive. Then its going to be a good product for to tour around with..

Its good that more and more indian companies are increasing their technological expertise....however... I would probably not purchase it.

Atleast, after being the only Indian company in Motogp (moto3 to be precise), i am expecting a better engine. Something that can thrill the motorcycle enthusiasts.

They just purchased a team that was in need of cash in moto3.they do not have the access to moto tech, just a marketing thing.

They are still bothered to launch it after half a decade.

Although the redesigned fuel tank has helped the propotions.. Aesthetically the Mojo still does not appeal to me.

Pricing will be the key for Mahindra. It would be better to launch the Mojo with an aggressive price rather than slashing it later. Rs. 1.5 Lakhs should be an aggressive price for it.

We all have seen the sorry fate of the Suzuki Inazuma. Even after Rs. 1 lakh price cut, I hardly see any enthusiasm for the Inazuma.

It was in not in 2010 Auto expo but in Sep 2010 when the Mojo along with the Stallio was revealed to the media in Mumbai.

                        True that.

But despite a couple of podium finishes, Mahindra have not been successful in taking advantage of the PR that they could/should have.

But IIRC, I read an article in last month's TopGear India mag that they do have a team working on bikes from scratch. Which class (Moto 3 or not), I'll have to see again.

The Mojo story reminds me of 'A Bridge too far'. Field Marshal Montgomery created a ambitious and complicated plan (Operation Market Garden) to leapfrog Netherlands into Germany. The operation failed due to its complicated nature and loads of variables.

The Mojo story is similar. Introduced with a lot of fan fair by a company that had zero experience in two wheelers (harping on its Italian DNA and roots) and then withdrawn to be reworked upon, this is a product that was one bridge too far for Mahindra. The damage to Mahindra's reputation will not allow this bike to sell in any numbers that will make a difference. I personally doubt if this bike will even recover its development cost. Its 4 years late and is going to be completely overshadowed by its more glamourous counterparts.

It has neither the looks nor the glamour that will make it desirable to GenX, the segment that it is aiming for, it will have very little going for it other than maybe the price factor.

Will I buy this bike? No, why will I buy this when there are established players like Bajaj and Hero offering me similar products that are better looking, reliable and hold their market value better. Mahindar has long and steep road to climb.
Only a biker knows why a dog sticks his head out of a car window.
