@dineshaugustine - similar power doesnt mean much.
as for hero hx250, yes being a hero product it's certainly going to give a good mileage.

mate by that logic one should never put any percentage of belief in any professional reviews of bikes that one hasnt ridden :-)

i wasn't comparing it to ducati panigale specifically either man :-) i was just pointing out that EBR is not known for racing at all anywhere, let alone racing with mileage which is a bit of an oxymoron...EBR being a very small company cant afford to participate in major racing championships of course (although i think this season of WSBK featured an EBR 1190), that's why EB was focussed on making a good racing package for privateer teams but it turns out not a lot of privateer teams and small-scale racing clubs in the US use it either relatively speaking...

i didnt mean to say it's a bad bike, i dont know exactly how good or bad it is, but i just meant that it's not regarded as a generally good/competitive bike either (not a lot of good professional reviews about it). EBR has a long way to go still.

a short OT probably finishes here.

True that. Ktm has a long history of racing. But ebr launched its first bike and it became very close to panigale....so like u said they have long way to go but the starting was very good. Must admit the power delivery of ebr bikes are much uniform than panigale.but EB always trusted on torque also.on the other hand Ktm is well established...though the newly entered Ax has already overtook superduke technically.

I have been eyeing the RC 390 since it was first displayed, I still like it, but there is still a few things I am disappointed with.

            1) Pricing, yeah you got me right, made in India with cheap labour, the pricing should have been in line with the CBR 250 R, in Europe and North America the 390, CBR 250 R, Hyosung 250 R, Ninja 300R are priced in the same bracket, the RC200 is way over priced and without ABS.
            2) The front end, meaning the headlight cowl/beak, still can't get into it, that along with the cheap looking front mudguard!
            3) The fuel tank, both small (10 Litres !) and finished in matte abs, at least paint the tank ( this is a cost cutting thing, rather than being stylish) I personally loathe a matte finish on a vehicle, paint should shine and have a mirror like reflection.
            4) Not a Yamaha/Kawasaki or Honda
            5) Bajaj, I had Bajaj insurance, it sucked, I have a Bajaj food processor and am lucky to be alive, I had a Bajaj fan, rust-in-peace.

            Things I like;
            1) best performance within the price, however I feel tempted to buy a second hand 650 Ninja for a lakh or so more, even the Hyosung 650R is tempting in the used market.
            2) Except the front end issues the and the matte tank rest looks good
            3) Tyres
            4) ABS
            5) Parts availability, I have to wait up to 2 months to get parts for my R15, Bajaj supplies much quicker to this part of the country, https://indiaspares.in has helped to reduce the waiting time

Will I buy one? not sure, I am still very happy with my pimped up R15 (next project is to install ABS, maybe), with other launches due over the next year or so, I am happy to wait or maybe just go for a second hand 650.
Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

Yeah, one thing that puts me off on this design is the beak like protruding part. It just looks silly and I don't know why they left the head lamps exposed without a headlamp cover, I mean it gets hit by all the muck and may be even small stones which can damage the projector lamps.

Ok so the KTM showroom in Connaught Place has the export version RC390 on display (without the light on/parking/off switch on RHS) while a few other showrooms have the India-bound versions.

Also both projector lights are 55/60W and have a diameter of as 4.5mm as opposed to 2.5/3mm on P220 for supposedly better lighting. Now this was told to me by showroom manager so take it with a grain of salt.

This is a good info !!
But why are you skeptical? Larger the diameter better the lighting, right?

WOW. Pricing is the first excellent thing about this bike.
Does the CBR come with tyres or suspension as good as the RC390? How about brakes? Engine? If Bajaj decided to put shitty brakes, suspension and continental tyres on the RC390 (currently 2.05L ex-showroom), it would easily cost the same as a CBR250 ABS (1.80 Lakh ex-showroom) and still have a bigger engine and would pump out twice the power/weight ratio... isn't that worth anything at all?

Also, just to correct you, the CBR is 4299 Euros in Germany, the RC390 is 4999 Euros. That's about 17% higher, as opposed to 14% more expensive in India, so if anything, it's relatively cheaper in India than in Europe or US.

Edit : Here's pricing comparison in the US. RC390 is speculated to be $5000+ at launch, as opposed to 4300$ for CBR300 (which costs more than the 250R did)
Sure, there are some sporty motorcycles displacing less than 500cc, but none of them are as sharply edged or as exotically styled as the new KTM RC390.

Why have they kept the export version for display?

So, the Indian version has the same headlights or different?

Yes a larger diameter could be better for lighting (I suppose, I don't know for sure) but I was skeptical of the manager getting the specifications right in the first place. The info about the lights is from KTM Jaipur.

Both versions seemed to have the same lights (visual inspection only). I think the export version came in because they needed a display bike early. Perhaps it came in by mistake.
