A few things that I heard and stuck on during the launch -

1) The heat dissipation has been improved, so the hot air will now be deflected to the ground below the machine and not on to the sides. No fried legs now!. However, they said since the air will be deflected to the ground there is a additional sound that will come from the bike. I think that is fair, practicality is priority.

2) OT but did anyone notice Mr Stefan said there is a TWIN-CYLINDER being developed and will launch soon to replace the mid segment (~600cc)???

Hero also has a quarter litre bike (HX 250R) in the works and that can put a big dent in CBR and RC 200 sales if priced right.

Since these are ex-showroom prices, any idea about the on-road price guys?

Not only HX250 there are Mojo,Pulsar 200SS and may be a TVS too.

On- road price depends upon the road tax in your state .
Add approx 15-20k

Very very competitive pricing by Bajaj and KTM. It would be interesting to see how it fares on quality front. I am sure it would be fine, but people would try and find the faults due to the impression of earlier KTM siblings coming out of Chakan plant.

For me its a sweet pricing. Well done Bajaj and KTM!

Add 16-17K with ex showroom and you will get the on road price and yes you are right HX will also kill the market with its price, but as we are able listen rumor, those says HX will come next year only so till the time RC will complete his maximum number of sales...

I see. Indeed from here onwards the competition will only get fiercer and more interesting and hopefully the consumers get a good product regardless of the brand they choose.

It's here finally. The pricing is as expected. 1.85-1.90 lac on road(my estimate for Mumbai) for RC200 is by no means a killer pricing. The CBR 250 R is in the same range and the RC doesn't beat it in outright performance. The 25 hp CBR beat the duke 200 in 0-100 kmph times in tests conducted by Indian auto mags. The current 26 hp CBRs would fare even better against the RC(which is porkier than the duke)

The RC390, however, has to be the choice for all but the most passionate twin cylinder connoisseur.

Can someone confirm the 'customized RCs for different market' news which was circulating yesterday here ?

The RC 200 at 1.6L ex showroom somehow appears a bit pricier than it should have been...Duke 200 is now 1.4-1.5 OTR Bangalore. Around 1.5-1.6 OTR would have been better. But then again great bike and looks hot in that black color !!

OT : IF this is 1.6L i think we can expect the 200SS to be 1.2 ex considering the 45-50k difference between the 200 NS and Duke. Now that, if it is real , is bloody good price!!

2.05 for RC 390 is a complete bargain and VFM! No complaints there

They skirted the question on broken alloys though ....and also the question on deliveries.

When asked have they improved the material on the alloys as there were reports on broken rims, they say - "Any bike when pushed to the limits will have issues. Having said that we are aware of indian road conditions and the way indian customers push thier bike and all the inpuits we have recieved from customers have gone into the RC" . If they would have improved rims they would have definitely said it.

No, there is no optional ABC in RC200 the reason given by KTM is that the customers they are targeting will not get the bike under the given price.

I do not agree the fact though, according to me the more the aggressive is bike the more the ABS is required and we know how drooling and punchy Duke is...

And there was a straight 'NO' from KTM for 1290 (super Duke) and 690 Duke for India as of now, but they are working on something twin cylinder in near future for India.

And yes adventure category is also empty in India for KTM, said by KTM today in RC launch...

I thought in the Q&A Stefan mentioned some Adventure bike being launched in Paris next month will make it to India as well !! ... I don't remember the exact name something like Adventure 1050 or something i guess ....

Are there any mechanical differences between the D390 and the RC390 ? Engine, Power output, Torque, Gear ratios etc ?

Also, what's the current ex showroom price of the D390 ?
