A lot of people have the same decision to make. Listen to the heart or the mind. I am still confused. I have test ridden the Duke 390. But still waiting for one test ride on the RC390. After the RC390 test ride I will decide finally as to what I will get. My heart says RC390. I absolutely love the bike. But practically thinking I can't tour on this. I have plans to tour Leh in 2015. So I was more inclined towards Dke 390. But there are people who do the Leh circuit in R15s. So personal choice matters. One test ride will help me decide now.

One issue which was quite common in the dukes and which is surely going to be resolved in the RCs is oil leakage(head gasket replacement was a solution). No body's gonna see any seepage now, thanks to the fairing
And since in most cases the seepage was miniscule not resulting in sudden dip in oil level, would certainly go unnoticed.

You absolutely can tour on it, all it would take is getting used to.
I personally know more than one person who have done Ladakh on their R15s. Both V1 & V2. Without any issues.
If there is something to be worried about then you should be worried about carrying extra fuel on your Ladakh ride on the RC!!

3 months is the waiting period.. Those guys have no ETAs... I would love my bike to be the first one on display and take it home.. Hopefully it arrives before festivals...

Bro I would suggest do not book duke before extensive RC test ride. Like many of us looks matter to you (it seems) so why compromise on it straightaway? Below are my pointers to think on -

1) As far as comfort is there I would say its a lot about getting used to it. From what I remember you wrote you haven't ridden many bikes, which could be one cause you found RC stance slightly more uncomfortable. I remember when I got my RTR-180 I used to have tired wrists and back even at that posture as I was not used to even a slight lean.... needless to say I soon got used to it and now can drive it 200-250 kms at a strech without a break! .... So there is high chance the discomfort in riding stance will be much lesser after say a month of riding it.
2) Performance wise its the same as duke, so the same daily kicks to office
3) You anyway are not too much of a tourer, so the better comfort of Duke can probably take a back seat! ?
4) The acceleration of RC seems more fun and less scary due to smoother gearing,... and might lure into learning motocycling a few steps further!

To me, they said, the RC 200 display bike will arrive in another 20-30 days and deliveries begin in 30 days (..will actually start within 2 months )

Did you fill the bike with normal 91RON petrol or you put in 95 RON.

What was the response of bike if you filled it with 91RON?

I guess it would have been 91RON because that's what most of the people would be using plus, 95 RON petrol is found at very limited petrol pumps1

I had the chance to meet BPCL officer.He said all the BPCL petrol pumps have 93RON rated petrol.Is it true?

I just called KTM Showroom Noida.They told me that their test drive bike will reach in next 10 days and they will give a call when it does.

Though 10 days is still a long time.

The scope of discussion was within Delhi NCR region with the BPCL guy,can't say about whole nation.

I checked out the Rc390 again and IMO it has more muffled exhaust sound compared to D390 due to all that fairing but I felt the vibrations to be more than expected.
