a plain yellow FZ-16 is also kept at the pune showroom at wakadewadi, it's not for sale but only for customer reviews an looks good too but the color similar to rtr-yellow (metallic) would look better, the person over there told me that yamaha is planning to introduce that color for the 16.

Why should Yamaha really design a 200-250 cc bike and put a 150 one in there? Just this one thought stops me from really going for this bike.
    ditto my thoughts....

    • ^^^...I don't understand why people are unnecessarily demanding more performance from FZ16 just because it sports big/tough looks!!!??

Is it correct to put Yamaha at fault to design a 150cc bike close to its bigger brother FZ???

FZ16 has a performance which is as good as any other 150cc motorcycle in the market right now (except RTRFI, R15 ofcourse)....the performance is satisfying.

GOing by what u guys say, no company should design a bike which resembles its big brother but sports a smaller engine, right??!!!

FZ16 is an excellent city bike, might be best even and it goes fine on highways too!!! and it comes with a design which demands attention!

Well first of all i did not mean to take any credit from Yamaha as they have done what some of the major players did not even think of doing and both their products are top notch in each and every respect...

Now coming to the main point,
Noone is complaining about what the fz is capable of and does best, but the point is what a bike deserves? Lets say if the fz16 would have had a 125 cc block similar to the cbf stunner 125 then how many people would have turned to buy it? very less i guess.

The bike like the fz-16 deserves a bigger block so that it can have the similar go as it has the show and burn every other bike on the road, this one thing has turned off many bikers. Only if it would had a 200 cc engine I would have easily shelled that 80-90k. The thing is to make a bike that commands respect in terms of looks as well as performance like what Yamaha did of the RD350/RX100. They are Legends.

The above mentioned are my views solely and anyone is free not to agree with them. Period.

To add ... I have no complaint with a 150 cc. I do understand its great for yamaha and its great for masses. But having a similar thing coexist with a 200-250 cc engine would have completed the task. I am just putting across what I would wish in this well designed piece of engineering

It is. But can we say the same about their Repsol edition a few years back???

                • Today I have seen the FZ-S white and black combi. It did not look good to me and felt the old FZ-16 is much better.

As for the GP Uni, I did not feel it to be a good looker either. It attracts because of its multiple colors, but it is not a good looker. The new black Uni is far better.

                      • There is no doubt that FZ is the most good looking bike, but what is disappointing is the power output and the Fuel efficiency which is little more than Zma. If the bike was making a liittle more power than the average 150s available, people would not mind about the low mileage, atleast i wouldnt mind about the fuel consumption, when it is compensating for more power (more fun). I respect Yamaha for bringing out such great Bikes, but I strongly feel that the bikes can handle slightly bigger engines. I am waiting for the day when we will have bikes that have great power to make the chasis work harder and keep the rider excited at all times when he/she wrings the throttle, I hope I'd see them some day

                        • FZ-16 is a brilliant bike, chassis, suspension, tires & other components work very well together to give it a fantastic ride. Yamaha has been smart & accurate to give that chassis a 150cc mill & not stress it to hamper performance... not make it Pulsar, give it power with vibrations, mediocre chassis & suspension which gives Bajaj the least impressive ride quality among competition. Performance in FZ is there & in the right way, it was never meant to be a peaky power bike but a torque machine & that's what it is..

It's better to have a less power with top ride quality, handling & components!!
That's why Karizma is still the king of touring, same reason why R-15, FZ & Stunner are on top of their competition!

                          • @nitinsen:

Absolutely correct .....or else we can never stop crying about more power. The power in the FZ16 makes it fully exploitable, and that's what makes it the best 150

                            • so whats so great in its current torque output.....the rtr has excelent low end too....FZ torque figures are there there abouts the other 150's....its just coz the company says that the FZ 16 has great and loads or torque is why we think of it as torqumiester......other companies with their 150's too cud say the same.....

am sorry for me and a couple of FZ 1 and a FZ 6 owner its a rip off of their bikes and it comes no where close to the "torque" it claims to put out neither is its performance immpressive......
