Royal Enfield Himalayan Launched at Rs 178872/- On Road Mumbai!
You Start Your Life with a Full Pot of Luck and an Empty Pot of Experience, the Object is to Fill the Pot of Experience Before you Empty the Pot of Luck.....!!
looks legit.......... to my unsuspecting & untrained eyes.
so yea RE in trouble !
cheers
Neither news is fake nor RE is in trouble as of today (My opinion). Its too early to predict on quality. Every accident is different and damage is solely dependent on point of impact and number of parameters associated with it. I've seen Honda dio crashed on Honda City in my society premises. Dio was intact while Honda city was badly damaged. Does that mean Dio has superior build while Honda city has poor? Certainly not. Its all physics, and better not jump to a conclusion. I was in the same opinion when similar RS200 photos were leaked on internet.
RE will have sales impact for sure because such incidents put up general perception of bad build quality.

I meant fake in the sense that the incident might have been reported to look like RE build quality is bad. The accident could have been worse but reported otherwise. Who knows. There was no other source other than rush lane by then.
Saw this meme circulating today, anybody know the back story behind the photo?
Probably someone just trying to act over smart; trying to take the vehicle in the deep water or dropped it in the water while crossing temporary bridge.

I read on other sources that DIO rider was drunk, ridding without licenses and speeding over 70. RE Test bike was also at high speed and it was head on collision.
Dio rider is critical. RE Rider has fracture in his leg.
Hope both will be OK soon.

1) The front fork breaking happened in Chennai when the Dio collided with Himalayan at 70kmph , Himalayan was at 30kmph. It was Dio rider's mistake and at that speed , any bike will go through same fate, try watching the low slides of sbk, you will see what all breaks.
2) Dont Ass-u-me about the water incident, it was last sunday's event at Delhi Gurgaon area where they made an off road track for Himalayan and it fell there, nothing wrong in it.
How come I know all this : thanks to the repo I made with RE guys during my test ride.
Fare thee well xBhp, All the best for being the biggest name in corporate world
Its believed to be a head on collision with a Honda Dio has ended up like this. Not much in depth details about the incident in Rush lane.
Either this news has to be fake or RE is in serious trouble here.
With great power comes great responsibility.
I've only ever seen RE Himalayan once in Bangalore and it zoomed past me as if to race.
I ignored as always. *self note: keep action cam ON at all times*
I hope the people involved in the accident are doing OK

Can share some links or source on this could not find anything, frankly clean breakage like this are rare and raises fundamental engineering issue underneath the the parts in question rather its critical strength under breaking point. i am talking about those two broken pipe. I have few second hand knowledge of head on collision involving two motorbikes, at road legal speed, its always bent pipes (One that involving 3v2 persons). which is safer than breaking in to two.
Lack of standardize testing or even crash testing for 4 wheeler forget two, leaves each manufacturer to its own internal testing, which leaves a lot to desire.
Metallurgy is the clear line where Established Manufacturer on global scene and their R&D plays a major role in safety and engineering.
Nothing to take away from RE but they certainly need more to invest on their R&D budget. Not on design, chassis but on fundamental engineering stuffs.
They should take this case study to find any shortcomings in engineering and also design (caster / Rake angle) contributing to this kind of event.
Which city? What's the on road price? Does it cone with a centre stand by default?
Pune. OTR ~ 1.72 but since 1st April road tax has been increased by 3 % so they say it is going to be around 1.75/76L. Will update once I've more info on this.
Few bikes are already delivered in Pune since 4th April and all with Centre stand. Hope coming lot will have it as well.

The accident doesn't prove or disprove anything. The dio has a barrier in the form of front panel and looks like the brunt of the collision was taken by the front facade but the Himalayan's forks breaking off like a chalk pieces still take away confidence.
But to be fair the Himalayan rider just got out with a fracture while the other was not so lucky, so may be if the impact saves the rider it's a good design after all.
Test rode Himalayan only today. As several forums discussed the bike have many positives- like good suspension, comfortable riding stance, comfy seat cushioning, efficient braking, lesser vibes etc. But one of the two things that make me reconsider the buy is engine clattering noise from starting onwards. I felt irritating and doubts about frequent service centre visits and future maintenance cost creeps to mind. The test ride bike I rode had some odd 350+ km in it. But I also need to keep in mind the fact that the bike was test ridden rigorously without any rest today as the test ride only started today and i rode by evening for about 6km. The exhaust also seems to make popping sounds which maybe due to poor carb tuning or is it like it on all bikes?. The other thing for me is unnecessary comparison of torque with the RE500 which makes me feel Himalayan undertorqued also(it is definitely underpowered).
The showroom had there first delivery today for a mediaperson and I eagerly waited for he starting the bike and and as a relief that bike didnt had the clattering noise.
Also the bike had a centre stand too.
Even I have a similar concern. I had done a test ride when the bike was launched in Bangalore showrooms and was very much impressed with the comfort, suspension & traction. But after a month, when I did another test ride last week, the bike lacked that punch. The comfort section was intact but the engine was making rattling noises & had very hard gear box. I had gone to book the bike but I returned without booking. I am a bit confused whether I should go for it or not.

It is because the TD bike would not have had a proper brake in and ... well you know ... people treat TD bikes like crap. So if you expect a TD bike to be like the one you drive from day 1 then ... i would call such delusional/delirious.
We have no respect for TD bikes on this rock ...
When I'm on the road, I'm indestructible. No one can stop me... but they try.

True. On the day of booking, took test ride again. Did not notice engine clatter but noticed engine oil leak.
Brought it to attention. Bike had clocked barely 1000+ kms.
TD bikes are treated as crap for sure.
