Re: 3 New Bikes from Hero before Diwali!
Exactly.. They run testing on actual road conditions too.. Any automobile company tests their products in accelerated durability cycle but on actual roads too. Depending on the bike's target market they design a test cycle with good roads, bad roads including highway traffic, but they use lights in day time to stimulate electrical loading in night condition as well..Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostLast edited by saikarthik; 09-06-2016, 04:37 PM.

Re: 3 New Bikes from Hero before Diwali!
Pawan munjal said that they would be launching all new achiever. I saw the video on YouTube. I think this bike will be based on new engine platform. He also added that i3s would be applied to super splendor& passion pro. Media made mess of this news. He never said that achiever will get i3s, instead said all new achiever would be launched.Originally posted by rreneav1987 View PostSomeone here knows something..

Re: 3 New Bikes from Hero before Diwali!
It will be a new engine developed by Hero. If they use the same engine which was developed by Honda, they will have to continue paying the loyalty bonus to Honda which isn't a little amount. Let us wait and see..Originally posted by pranav shet View PostPawan munjal said that they would be launching all new achiever. I saw the video on YouTube. Re: 3 New Bikes from Hero before Diwali!
How is the working environment at R&D dept in hero? Have they given free hand for new ideas? What is Markus braunsperger's style? Most important : How many new engine platforms is hero developing. Would be nice to hear from your end.Originally posted by saikarthik View PostExactly.. They run testing on actual road conditions too.. Re: 3 New Bikes from Hero before Diwali!
The Unicorn was launched in 2005. It was their first motorcycle, even before the shine (if my memory serves me right.. shine came about in 2006). The rest of the bikes followed starting late 2008. So the first couple of years it was just the Uni and Shine (on the motorcycle front) on the roads. This was due to their agreement with Hero regarding not selling motorcycles in India for a predefined period since they were still in collaboration.Originally posted by Nithesh View PostIf I can recall my memory, HMSI only started motorcycle manufacturing in 2008 isn't it? The Stunner/Ignitor and Uni 150 came about in 2008? So its only been an 8 year journey for motorcycles in India for them?

Couldn't find any timeline for their product release on the net, not even on their website so had to rely on xbhp's ownership thread to see who owned those bikes in what year first. Forgot to check Wikipedia.Originally posted by s1d View PostThe Unicorn was launched in 2005. Its a bit baffling that Stunner was eventually phased out a few years ago after it ran its course and the numbers shrank but it has somewhat found new life as Ignitor for Hero in their sales charts. Old Stunner owners will have spares availability from Hero for a while I think.Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

So many Questions!!!Originally posted by pranav shet View PostHow is the working environment at R&D dept in hero? Have they given free hand for new ideas? What is Markus braunsperger's style? Most important : How many new engine platforms is hero developing. Would be nice to hear from your end.

It was getting better, like almost all Indian OEMs are transforming themselves to be competitive.
Ideas were welcome, but only those which are logical taken up.. too ambitious tech which doesn't make a business case will not see light anywhere except in may be companies like Ducati.
Not sure abt engine platforms, but they were working on few fuel efficient lower cc mills.. even if I knew it would be unethical to let it without company's consent.
And Markus is an motoGP enthusiast and have participated in international circuit racing, so you can imagine his style.. Nice guy, talks free even to a normal engineer if one has passion for bikes and racing. So got along well.Last edited by saikarthik; 09-06-2016, 04:34 PM.
