I was the only person who was postive about this bike's perfromance and I was expecting it to be on par with p200, apache 200 but even to my surprize it smoked d200 and d250 also which is amazing....

And I was extremely sceptical about it. Glad to have been proven wrong 😁. I just bought the RTR after selling my Fz16, so will try making the most of it.

Seeing the spec sheet tells me that Yamaha wanted to pull the lost customers(who went towards Suzuki Gixxer) who had their heart-broken after finding the new FZ16-FI being low powered with 12.9 PS.

I feel FZ25 should've been the new FZ16-FI but delayed by 2 years.

            Good enough 21PS with 20Nm @6000rpm

Wet-Weight is 148kgs so Dry-Weight should be 138-140 kgs. (correct me if I'm wrong)

            FZ25 torque rating is better than Apache 200 which produces 18.1Nm @7000rpm, NS200 18.30Nm @8000rpm and Duke200 19.2Nm @8000rpm.

This translates to good low-end torque and good acceleration due to low weight, should be a hoot to ride in city I guess.

So finally by seeing on paper FZ25 is for someone who is looking beyond TVS, Bajaj and KTM brands and wants a street-bike having good low-end torque which also does the occasional highway rides under good service support of Yamaha without breaking the bank.

PS- FZ25 is relatively Rs.36k costlier than FZ16-FI when compared with ex-Delhi prices. Which is good not killer. Cheers!
What I observed on paper earlier has come true in reality. Yamaha had done a commendable job to bring a solid and good reliable machine(unlike my old Duke200) with quick city performance is what we see from online Youtube videos.

Hopefully the Xbhp Ride Review is coming soon to give a better and more detailed analysis..

I feel it fades when there is a vehicle approaching, but, the lamp is provocative enough to lower their beams. But still, functionality wise, it might not be optimum.

I believe, I am getting a genuine 30kmpl+ economy as of now.
I found gear shift clunky during my 100 mtr test ride LOL . On a positive note, I have always struggled in finding neutral but not with this one. tried many time & every time found the neutral at first attempt. Would have preferred at least gear shift indicator .

On a separate note , it is possible to get a aftermarket One ????

Headlamps, I agree. They leave a lot to be desired & aux lamps are must for night rides . FE, I was told is 43 KMPL as claimed by Yamaha . in real world conditions, 35 in the least i would expect. may be it will improve as you put on more miles.

I am waiting for first lot bikes to get over & see what their feedback is after 1 st service. Infact my local sales adviser also advised me same thing after looking at my interest.

              Keep the feedback coming.

                Yamaha fz25 faster than Duke 250 in 0 to 60 and 0 to 100

took a long test ride today. was 3 rd yamaha showroom where i found the bike. was my off so was pottering around on bike. anyways coming to bike:

cornering: first thing comes to mind is effortlessness. takes to corners without any fuss or drama. i think if you are average rider like me and not pushing hard, its as good as duke. duke still gives a bit better feedback cause hard suspensions but overall i say for having fun fz is almost there.

power: less power than dominar is apparent. but its no way less than cbr250r. power surge in midrange is amazing. made my r15 feel gutless after that. those powerdrift nos, even if a mistake are not too far off.

comfort: amazing. better than dominar on both comfort and handling. handling wise dominar pretty good too but has a different behaviour. it prefers to hook on to road beyond certain point around corner while fz is smooth throughout. fz wins cause of low weight and ease of use.

                      ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

                      also

gearbox: clunky. am coming from r15. so expectations are high. but still was a bit too clunky. it was not unusable like re himalayan, instead used to shift after a bit of protest. could not find neutral even once despite very long ride. overall usable but can be better. dominar has better gearbox than this. may have been cause it was a new bike.

breaks: great feedback. lever feels a bit soft like a drum break, except stopping power is like a disc. feedback is like a drum break too ie very good. happy with breaks. manageable w/o abs i felt. ( dominar wasn't)

If it feels less powerfully compared to dominar then what the heck is up with the powerdrift video..

Can any Duke 200 or CBR 250 owners testride and conclude

fz is about half second slow than dominar to 100. cbr times too are quite close to dominar. but power difference is apparent when you ride them.

its like 600 cc vs liter bikes. both have almost similar 0-100 figs. but power difference is there.

Agree on gear shifts being clunky. Even I felt the same during my short test ride but I did not have any difficulties in finding neutral . Perhaps specific to that bike. I am coming back to biking after almost 5 -6 years .

What is the OTR in Gurugram. Dealer has given me a quote of 1.4 L and is hell bend on adding extra 2500 as logistics and misc charges which are illegal. In Delhi, OTR IS 1.34 L . I am thinking of buying from Delhi.

Additionally google baba tells me road tax in Ulta pradesh is 6 % but dealer is claiming 10% citing some recent hike in road tax. Seems fishy as hike was in license fees. I could be wrong also...if somebody can throw light on above please.

So did you booked yet or waiting for few more test rides.

in Gurgaon i was quoted 136626 on road. did not check break up. thought it was low enough.

i took test ride from Delhi. there i was quoted 1.4 lac. 4k for extra accessories. when i asked about those he said leg guard, seat cover, helmet.

will get from Gurgaon cause my r15 is ggn no. will be easy to exchange.

no more test rides. fz25 it is. it fit me like a glove, especially coming from r15. was tempted by dominar power but fz a good upgrade over r15 too as seen in test ride.

am waiting for ownership thread to start. will wait out 2-3 months, allow first batch to be delivered. my feeling is build will improve slightly with future batches. not in a hurry cause r15 will do till then.
