DIY et all - I agree. The only reason i am not looking at RE is that i do not have time for being a mechanic myself. I am happy being a DC engineer for time being . May be when i get old & have time, will look for RE to learn something new. No offence to RE fans . They are good bikes just that they do not fit my current requirements.
you can do leh on fazer. but chances are it will break down. such is the journey.

leh would be a challenge even for bmw gs, let alone fazer. certainly not

Despite having a frigging 15 bhp [we had 15 bhp motorcycles a decade back & we used to boast about it] less, it is comparable to the 400 by Bajaj, wow, that is Yamaha for you.

I was anticipating a mediocre motorcycle, seems I've been proven wrong, at least on the performance part . Hate that instrument console though, looks like a cheap Chinese copy of the handheld Playstation device.
Saw the power drift video. Quoting the figures from power drift -

          Speed 0-60 0-100 Top speed ( V BOX ) Top Speed ( speedometer )

          D250 3.44 8.64 137.72 142
          FZ25 3.37 8.58 134.01 142

Can't believe this. Despite having 9.5 BHP & 4 NM less than D250 , the vehicle is quicker than duke 250. Is it really the so called " Yamaha Magic " ?

          Thanks

Awesome reviews everywhere. On paper it does look ordinary but real performance is superb as per all the reviews. Well done yamaha !!!

It at par with D250 in terms of pick up n tip speed. I am now super excited abt fz. Plus u get ultra reliable yamaha quality which bajaj can no way match.

I think Yamaha put in those 5 short gears tuned for acceleration just to annoy the Duke 200/250, Dominar, CBR 250 and Mojo in the 0-100.

Top end doesn't matter too much when touring, chances are it can keep up with the CBR 250 and Mojo on long tours, and hold its own with the Dukes in city drag races.

For a non tech guy like me, it doesn't matter 2 valve or 10 valve, what matters is the performance, the reliability, and the "quiet enjoyment" of the bike. And Yamaha has delivered.

Most Pune dealers already have the bike!

                        I agree.

Although gearing that short is a problem in touring. Especially with the 6th missing. This bike, like the Dukes will accelerate like a missile upto 100-110kmph. But once those speeds have been attained, a tall final gear really does help in maintaining that speed whilst at the same time reducing the stress on the engine by dropping RPMs. The Dukes/NS/RS therefore still have this advantage.

Can't be in the perpetual state of accelerating on long distance travel, it's annoying and boring. Still, kudos to Yamaha for the engineering on the Fz25. It will dominate the cityscape for sure!.

good to see 100 kmph coming in below 6.5 k rpm in powerdrift video. if you keep bike at 5000-6000 rpm it will be relaxed no matter if its 5 speed or 6 speed. doing more on a naked for longer duration on naked not good for you or engine.

i am surprised at those times. defy logic really. is there any chance press bikes are souped up. i need to test ride and find out myself if acceleration really good.

Have done 300 kilometers. I am surprised as to how smooth the bike is. The gear shifting, the clutch action, the precision in the way it moves is astonishing, I am surprised.

The tires might grip a bit better, but let them bed in to further comment upon. The MRF's were brilliant in my R15.

The headlamp has been finally aligned and while it does lighten up things, I feel it fades when there is a vehicle approaching, but, the lamp is provocative enough to lower their beams. But still, functionality wise, it might not be optimum.

I believe, I am getting a genuine 30kmpl+ economy as of now.

The tank extensions are difficult to clean and might prove to be a disaster if someone is shipping the bike on a train. The ORVM's aren't good either, have limited view. The silencer is a bit more jutted outwards, easy to scrape if you are not careful [just like the CBR-250R]

Things are pretty similar to the FZ-150. But just a hell lot smoother.

What surprises me is that if it is short geared for the low and mid range then how come it still attains the top speed equal to duke 250 that too quickly. Seriously cant believe what i saw in the video. If this is the real world performance then we can forget about all the XYZ technology and rely on this simple machine for hassle free ownership.

Maybe the 5th gear is tall for highway cruising? As somebody mentioned, the final drive ratio would be similar to the 6th gear of other bikes. Do we have accurate info about the gear ratios?
