A first-ride review popped up in my google now feed, sharing here...

2017 Yamaha FZ25 First Ride Review

To sum up then, the FZ25 is an FZ16 with the power it always deserved. This is not the bike for those of you looking for sharp, involving performance. Bikes like the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V, Bajaj NS 200 and particularly the KTM 200 Duke will more satisfyingly scratch that itch. But for those looking for a premium, stress-free and quick motorcycling experience, the FZ25 is your best bet yet. At Rs 1.34 lakh on-road Delhi, it is roughly Rs 15,000-20,000 more expensive than the TVS and Bajaj. That sounds expensive but look at it this way, if so many customers were willing to spend Rs 91,000 for an FZ16 when they could have got similar performance for less money, will they make the reach for the FZ25? My hunch says they will.

Saw this on YouTube. Absolutely gobsmacked at how fast this bike is despite the comparatively low power figures. The 0-60/0-100 are in D200 category if I'm not mistaken. Low top end was expected with that gearing, but it is FAST up to 100kmph.

I was anticipating a mediocre motorcycle, seems I've been proven wrong, at least on the performance part 😮😮. Hate that instrument console though, looks like a cheap Chinese copy of the handheld Playstation device.

It seems as quick as Duke 250 .
For about 50 k less it seems to be a better choice

Does seem so, at least on the performance criteria.

A mild surprise indeed! Now I'm really thinking of considering test riding this before I choose my next bike (currently inclining towards the Himalayan)..

Also, the Fazer(semi-faired) should do better, if and when it arrives. Any speculative release date for the Fazer25?

Being a Yamaha I don't think we should be worried about quality or handling. Duke 250 offers latest technology but fz25 seems to be at par with older tech

how is that possible? i am a Yamaha fan and even i didnt think it was possible. nos are about on par with cbr or even perhaps dominar and duke 250.

handling wise i am not concerned one bit. bike that gives this much feedback when you merely sit on it, will be amazing when you got used to it.

I got this FZ-25 on Tuesday and have ridden 250kms.
Congrats Sheel( Once again ). Seems like shortly you will have company. I am deciding between D 400, FZ 25 & KTM 250 . All 3 different as chalk & cheese. Looking back at my requirement I am sure FZ 25 fits perfectly. I am yet to test ride D 400 & Duke but more or less i think i now know what i want.

A upright relaxed sitting position , Usable pilion seat (requirement from home ministry, she hates pilion seats hanging in middle of nowhere), linear acceleration , saddle height which suit my 5.7" frame .

Just returned from showroom. Bikes feels light to handle, could not take a full blown test ride but guy have promise to bring it to my place shortly. what ever i rode, felt comfortable handling the bike. Being 5.7" , could not get both my feet on ground fully. Both front toes touch the ground though. The sales advised requested me to wait for 1st bike lot to get finished before booking. most probably another 1 month before i look towards booking the bike.

service - 1 st service at 1000 KMs , 2nd at 4000 and every 5000 from there on. Engine oil is 10 W 40 fully synthetic ( 450 rs per litre. they claimed she needs 2.4 Ltrs per service ) . coolant top up only if required . Leg guard of normal FZ can be installed . oil filter , air filter change. Do not think the service cost will go beyond 2000 per service if one includes the consumables .

                            Not so good -
A )I think head lights are in adequate and lack. As and when i will put my money down, only accessory planned will be AUX lights. Some thing like below

Vheelocityin U5 LED Motorycle Fog Light Bike Projector Auxillary Spot Beam Light (2Pc) For Honda CB Hornet 160R: Amazon.in: Car & Motorbike

Appreciate if you could suggest something better.

B ) For some reason Switch gear is Bare minimum non illuminated. Quality wise Ok.. found the fit & Finish bit lacking on this deptt. may be i was expecting lots of switches on both side being 250 CC

Just hoping that Yamaha decides shortly to include a ABS model on this one . Per se sales folks, every body seems to be complaining about lack of ABS on Yamaha.

fazer will definitely come. but you can't be sure it will lauch in time frame you are expecting. even seemingly ready bikes get delayed launches. maybe when fz sales will slow down they may launch fazer to spark interest. may take a long time.

also fz and himalayan are poles apart i think. himalayan should be considered if you are interested in diy stuff on bike like small repairs etc. fazer perhaps will go on most rides without breakdown unless you go to leh or such. not interested in getting your hands dirty? fazer would suit better.

Bit surprised with your statement in bold. I know few who have conquered sach pass & Leh on Old fazer.

DIY et all - I agree. The only reason i am not looking at RE is that i do not have time for being a mechanic myself. I am happy being a DC engineer for time being . May be when i get old & have time, will look for RE to learn something new. No offence to RE fans . They are good bikes just that they do not fit my current requirements.
