I am a Yamaha fanboy too. But they have been slipping in terms of their quality, servicing. The local manufacturers have quite evidently caught up now. Yes the Yamaha engines are still on a different level, but you have to ride the new TVS to understand how close they are now. Bajaj on the other hand, are nowhere in the picture.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 launched at RS 119500/-
As a fz16 user myself, I found the Apache's ergonomics as good if not better. Even the fit and finish is comparable. The ride quality is also much much better.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View Post

i have heard tvs bikes deteriorate fast. in 4 yrs start rattling and stuff. this may have improved but do not know. with yamaha, its a brand build on that. also quality of service i get from yamaha is great.Originally posted by tanishq View PostWill this time.. they are exporting huge units in other countries.. & so far there is no complaints abt the rtr200.. fit & finish of the bike is equally good as japs & there is almost no vibe in the bike.. so i guess as par vfm rtr200 is ahead of fZ-250.
also what about 50 cc, extra torque etc?

about ergos on apache, i liked its handlebar position. but has pegs perched up higher. feels odd.Originally posted by ALI.R View PostAs a fz16 user myself, I found the Apache's ergonomics as good if not better. Even the fit and finish is comparable. The ride quality is also much much better.

on fz 16 it feels natural. more refined and better done.
rest i would say differences are small. in everything, price power, ergo, quality etc. but they are there

Well i agree on the after sales service part.. but definitely tvs engines are not bad.. u will get the same good response from the engine even after 5 years.. & Extra 2nm torque doesn't make u super happy... Its more or less the same .Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View Posti have heard tvs bikes deteriorate fast. in 4 yrs start rattling and stuff. this may have improved but do not know. with yamaha, its a brand build on that. also quality of service i get from yamaha is great.

Still I feel fz16 feels way more torquey than other bikes in its segment and this is the reason why I am expecting another torquey machine from yamaha. On paper it is torquey, lets see how much it delivers on road...Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View Postabout ergos on apache, i liked its handlebar position. but has pegs perched up higher. feels odd.

Tt is only 2nm extra but it comes early at 6000rpm only which will give it excellent low and mid range power.Originally posted by tanishq View PostWell i agree on the after sales service part.. but definitely tvs engines are not bad.. u will get the same good response from the engine even after 5 years.. & Extra 2nm torque doesn't make u super happy... that 2 nm comes at lower rpm. makes a big difference.
i will likely test ride it tomorrow most likely, and will find out.Originally posted by Naveen1985 View PostStill I feel fz16 feels way more torquey than other bikes in its segment and this is the reason why I am expecting another torquey machine from yamaha. funny thing is i simply could not get apache test ride. despite of multiple trips to showroom, 5-6 times i guess. none of the showroom had test bikes. so i gave up. it was getting embarrassing.

I am sure it will make significant difference in roll-on figures which are more useful in city and day to day usage than 0-100 figure which mostly people consider as benchmark for performance.Originally posted by tanishq View PostOn rtr200 its comes down to 7k... So not that huge difference buddy.sigpic

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 launched at RS 119500/-
these nos are indicative of how engine will perform.
look at top speed of both bikes. videos from brazil fz suggest top speed of 150+ on casual riding ( not doing top speed run on km long empty road).
for rtr i have seen 130 or so (casual riding) on youtube.
i feel power wise fz should feel noticeably better.

Obviously I will test ride it but still I am sure about few things just because of my past experience.Originally posted by tanishq View PostNah bro.. trust me it will not... Indian FZ is a detuned version of Brazilian FZ.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View Postthese nos are indicative of how engine will perform.
