If yes, then, practically speaking, Yamaha's got a winner. The Fz 25 would be a good choice for those whose budget is below 2 lakh.
I agree with that. If one had the money, should be the CBR all day long. It's a far far better tourer too, with extra power, wind protection, liquid cooling and that crucial 6th gear.

The FZ no doubt is the most affordable quarter litre bike right now, and makes an interesting case. Having owned a Fz16 myself, I can vouch for the engine quality and the fit/finish of a Yamaha.

But here's the thing, try the new Apache 200 too. 30k cheaper, same level of fit and finish, super refined engine, better ride quality (KYB suspension!!), same power, marginally less torque (2nm), ABS ready (retrofitting possible once launched). Even as a Yamaha fanboy, it makes more sense.

Logically we should compare the fuel-injected version of Apache200 with FZ25 which is just 15k cheaper than FZ25 I guess. Obviously carb version is more value for money but fuel-injection makes touring more convenient and hassle free.

That bold part might not always be true. Karizma carb was an exceptional tourer with bulletproof reliability. Both the bikes are pitted as street fighters as of now. Wait for the Fazer 250, it will be a great budget tourer.

cbr is amazing bike bogged down by honda unwillingness to sell it. becomes apparent the moment you go to showroom and ask for one.

hell even hdfc guys in honda showroom behaves in strange ways. when i went to them for financing, i had 1.5 lac loan offer from hdfc which would process without documentation. but he simply was not ready to process it without some docs i didnt had.

anyways, fz by the looks of it will suffer in comparison cause of wind blast. nakeds automatically reducing touring speed to 80-90 kmph imo.

fz will have a good advantage in city riding and commuting. honda i feel is too eager to tip over. kinda makes harder to filter through traffic.

Interesting! Motorcycle looks decent. Although more in a 'FZS v2.0 on steroids' kind of way. Wish they had changed the mirrors though, they looked cheap even on the smaller FZ ( I was using Unicorn ones on mine. &#128513

Most importantly, the reviewer indicated that gearing is really short, even on the fifth. Would be a hoot to ride in the city, but an irritant on the highways.

Absolutely. If I had to buy a bike now, between the CBR250 STD and the FZ25, I would choose the FZ25. I don't need 140 kmph touring, it's just a bonus. If the Fz 25 can tackle the summers without overheating, that's all I need.

Exceptions are always there but by adding just a fairing to a naked bike cannot convert it into a tourer. It will just add some points to its aesthetic value and that too only for those who prefer faired bike over naked.

                          It depends -

                          # Save for a better top end and more grunt, this bike will, shame the CBR 250R in braking, cornering and ergonomics.
                          # I never felt connected with the CBR 250R, in this, I found instant liking, just because of its sure footedness [my 250R had Michelin, which made some improvement to the shitty chassis & braking, but not by much]

I would be free by this Wednesday, hope to get the bike on that day, shall try to update further.

More than relying on what I say, please do go ahead and have a test ride. The Yamaha is going to pull you towards it.

did you own cbr and bashing it like that? haha

couldn't understand complaints regarding cbr braking and handling.

thing is everyone wants sharpness and stability that yamaha /ktm bikes provide. honda does things differently i think and is good once you understand how it behaves. its too eager to tip in. once it tips in, it has a tendency to overshoot. so a more experienced rider is needed to draw necessary lines. also its eager to tip in so beginners can have lot of fun as well.

in comparison my r15 has taken considerable time and effort to build up confidence to fully lean over. its very stable and doesnt tip in easily and noobs find it hard to push it fully.

Could you please shed more light on your cute laughter?

18/10/2011 to 08/01/2017. This is the time frame a grey/silver CBR 250R was in my garage.

Now, if you didn't own & hopefully didn't get to ride, how can you make comparisons? I stand by my words, I am not as gifted [as maybe you] to exploit the CBR, hence the comments.

never seen anyone ' xy' bike is better than my bike the way you did. everyone more or less is biased towards their bike. i found that amusing.

of course i have ridden cbr 3-4 times. extensively once. looking at how detailed my comparison is that should ve been clear.

also no need to bring that gifted part. on roads everyone is equally gifted. maybe on track someone is better.
