Re: Yamaha FZ 25 launched at RS 119500/-
Can't comment about 100-110 kmph. The max I have done is 77 kmph @ 5000 rpm in 5th and at that point it was butter smooth.I will not exceed 5000 rpm before 1000 km/1st service.Originally posted by NikhilBharadwaj View Post

I don't know much about technicality, but one thing that my mind couldn't digest is 5S gear box that FZ25 is coming with.
Please help me to understand, is it really feasible to have 5S GB on a 250 CC engine (though it is not meant for track racing).
I mean, will we really be able to get max out of it or it will always be a negative point?
Thanks in Advance

An extra cog will help the bike to run in much lower rpm in higher cruising speeds on highways resulting in less vibration or strain on engine & more kmpl. Hope experts here will explain it better.Yes FZ25 should have the sixth gear.Originally posted by raahul11 View PostI don't know much about technicality, but one thing that my mind couldn't digest is 5S gear box that FZ25 is coming with.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 launched at RS 119500/-
It is not always better to have an extra gear, the important thing is the gear ratios. Almost all the time the a bike will have the lowest gear ratio in the top( may be 4th, 5th or 6th) so that the vehicle will have sufficient pulling power to maintain the speed in the highest gear.Originally posted by raahul11 View PostI don't know much about technicality, but one thing that my mind couldn't digest is 5S gear box that FZ25 is coming with.

Say you have 150 cc engine matted to 3 different gear box, a 4S, 5S, and 6S. The 4S will have the slowest pickup(theoretically) because each gear is long and gear shift interval is more. The 5S will have a better pick up and the gears are shorter than the 4S version. The 6S will have the best pick up of the 3 and the gears are shorter but required frequent gear shift. For most of the time the last gear ratio will be similar in all 3 variants which results in similar top speed, so the gears are designed mostly based on the usage.
One more thing is the pulling power, if you want best load carrying capacity then the vehicle will mostly come with less gears.
Am not saying above is correct but this is how it can theoretically explained as per my knowledge.

Thank you. That's what I was expecting, this might be a step taken for better fuel economyOriginally posted by windsong View PostAn extra cog will help the bike to run in much lower rpm in higher cruising speeds on highways resulting in less vibration or strain on engine & more kmpl. Thanks for these insights. So we can say, it will be easy to maneuver in traffic. Right?Originally posted by Iam_Hoodi_CBR View PostIt is not always better to have an extra gear, the important thing is the gear ratios. theoretically yes, it should be better to ride it in city. But how better it will be, only a test ride can say.

This is exactly the theory behind the no of speed. But many are confusing that more gear mean better for the same engine spec.Originally posted by Iam_Hoodi_CBR View PostIt is not always better to have an extra gear, the important thing is the gear ratios. RE bikes with bigger engine and so much of torque runs only on 5 speed and we cant anything about engine stress.
If Yamaha needs to provide 6 speed for FZ25 then they have to change gear ratio or tune the engine to a different state.Last edited by dineshaugustin; 02-28-2017, 04:26 PM.

Can you send some pics of what and where exactly you changed the cilps?Originally posted by windsong View PostI have noticed some cost cutting measures in the bike which should not be there.Yamaha has used plenty of push type clips to attach panels. All of the same small size. Two from the rear tail piece fell off on very first day--and now I have replaced those 2 with oversized one and now its perfect. Also replaced another two over rear wheel with oversized clips. All other small size push clips have been replaced by better quality push clips from Maruti service centre.

It is the same engine used in Brazil Fazer 250.Originally posted by abhishek_jain View PostI had read somewhere Yamaha is dumping its old machines (Fz25) to Indian market. As it was already running in other markets since a very long time. Is it true.!?
Some say 'tired and tested engine' and others say 'dumping'.

manufacturing would be the right term. they don't have engines that they wanna dump somewhere or sell at cheap price.Originally posted by abhishek_jain View PostI had read somewhere Yamaha is dumping its old machines (Fz25) to Indian market. they considered that engine to be a nice fit for our country. and costs less as well. don't see the problem in that. if you want high tech get duke 390.

Re: Yamaha FZ 25 launched at RS 119500/-
Inquired today about the OTR in Chennai, its close to 140000, R15 costs a tad less than that. Wondering how much tech stuffs has gone into a 150cc mill compared to a 250cc. With people who tries to take more VFM (considering the price for the CC), they may jump to the 250 mill. Mileage figures might be around 35-40, considering the amoubt of power it generates for a 250 mill and its not short geared like the R15 either.R15S - Current

FZ25 is straight forward practical machine with a conventional riding posture. With good low end and torque it will be a great machine with reasonable performance on highways. still waiting for a proper road test report !!

This is a bike which Yamaha is manufacturing here in India. Its not i-phone 4 or 4S. Use right words because these type of words can hurt sentiments of people like me who are Yamaha fanboysOriginally posted by abhishek_jain View PostI had read somewhere Yamaha is dumping its old machines (Fz25) to Indian market.
