ok. talking specifically about duke 390, i have scoured a lot of pages on ownership thread and tourer logs. most of ppl face some problems. it may be niggles but if it stops you from starting a bike and riding it, is a big deal on a long tour in remote areas.Originally posted by dnewguy View Post[B]
As far as my experience goes with bajaj products then they are reliable and vfm when taken good care (timely service). And i have seen ktm's crunching miles after miles with minor niggles (mostly earlier batches).
You will find many solo tourers with Bajaj/KTM bikes.
i rented a lot of bikes to see which one suits me better. loved duke 390 the most but it was only one having lots of troubles. dominar has same engine so hoping it will be better.

I had booked the bike on 20th Dec but cancelled it recently due to concerns over weight and issues seen in test ride bikes like the loose handle bar and some coolant issues, still not sure on whether to go for it or not. I learnt biking on a Duke 200 and dominar didnt really feel like an upgrade nor as a better city bike when I rode it for two times over some 5 odd kilometers. Will wait for early ownership reviews/feedback. Congrats to the new owners!

I am not trying to win you over for Bajaj/ KTM.
Just saying that with timely care these bikes can stand the test of time.
Even on long tours (+2000 kms) you have to keep in mind the needs of your respective bike.
Usually the rented bikes are handled like trash + the servicing done is very minimalistic (my experience).
A long term owner would tell you its true colors.

Agree with you, I have had P150 for 4years now and the only time my bike had stalled in the middle of the road was because of Engine flooding due to improper service (3rd free service, mind you) where they did not clean the Carb properly. But I guess that wont be a problem in this bike owing to FI. Other than that, with proper maintenance, oil change every 1.5-2k kms and smooth riding, my bike is still as smooth as a Pulsar can be and returns 45-48kmpl in city/highway riding.Originally posted by dnewguy View PostI am not trying to win you over for Bajaj/ KTM.

I doubt that would be the case here. I think they will use FS oil over mineral oil!! In case of FS, the oil change interval will be greater than 5kSplendor - 2k to 2006

As per the Cancellation Terms, they will refund the whole amount minus the service charge (90 bucks or something as I saw during booking). The SMS they sent did not say anything about the refund amount, just that it will be processed in 15 working days.Originally posted by vdarshan View PostHi
