FYI, I too have a bike with gear indicator. Even then, for most of the time, I look at the tacho to know the gear instead of the gear indicator.

Re: CB300R confirmed for India?
Even I was baffled to know it lacked a gear indicator, even it's full fared sibling doesn't get one.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostBut you know what would be more useful and appreciated? A gear-position indicator.
Even Hornet160 got upgraded last year to include GPI
But hey guess what atleast we get a "kill switch" this time around
, Thank God for that! Beggars can't be choosers right!
Mate, there are so many things on this bike which one can still live without them, no one needs USD forks, DOHC, Fi. Give us normal forks, SOHC, Carb and the common man won't even know it's absence and can easily live with it at the end of the day. It'll still have enough power to do ridiculous speeds.Originally posted by ayrus View PostAre you serious or sarcastic, mate?? It is a good addition but not something you can't live without.
Point being made here is, when the rumored expected price is as same as and/or above the Duke 390, everyone has their expectations set to a bare minimum standards to be on par and equal with the competition. The 390 has features, tech and gadgetry all loaded to the gill. Even a single thing absent on the CB300R looks magnified.Last edited by kiran2508; 01-16-2019, 11:21 PM.Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart

By your logic if the bike has a handlebar, chassis, engine and 2 wheels it will run just fine (And theres a name for this Motorcycle: "Daimler Reitwagen", the first internal combustion engine motorcycle)
You can definitely live without a suspension, headlights and all the electronics....
Buddy this is 2019 not 1999
P.S: You look at the tacho to know the gear? What?

Re: CB300R confirmed for India?
No one is forcing you to buy anything.Originally posted by MotoBlizzard View PostYou want me to spend 4000INR + shipping to import a GPI on a Bike that is likely to cost ~2.5lacs onroad?
When bikes like Gixxer and RTR160 have GPIs in them what excuse does CB300R have for not having it?
Even Hornet160 got upgraded last year to include GPI
Well even the CBR650F doesn't have a gear indicator and has a similar fix. Only the 2019 edition gets it.
If I'm in the market for a motorcycle like the CB300R which ticks all the right boxes and misses out on a GPI, I won't crib about it.
Now if something crucial like the ABS is missing then I would complain.
Peace!

Re: CB300R confirmed for India?
If they are looking for number they will have to be around the same price range as cbr250, and I don't think India version will get these USDs bcoz of price factor thus hampering the looks. And with the punny little tank😂 I don't think it will attract many buyers who are looking for a weekend tourer, living with a 300 in city traffic is out of question for most of people.
Dominar with all the bells and whistles will undercut this CB300R.
But better late than never. Thank You Honda

This is largest motorcycle forum in India, we as educated bikers, we are just putting down our views and listing things on what's good, what's bad and what's missing, just so that for someone if "gear indicator" is a deal breaker he'll know about it that it's not there or if some noob out there is looking for a new bike he'll know all info in one place.
So yes, one has to accept that fact CB300R does not come with a gear position indicator out of all things which doesn't cost one bit it add, just out of laziness and cost cutting by Honda, when you yourself have mentioned that fix is so simple and cheap with the plug and play kit, but why couldn't Honda have done it from factory itself in the first place? What did they save? Lack of space? Battery draining? Are they thinking experienced biker won't need a indicator?
Whether it's a deal breaker or not, that's all upto the individual to decide who is reading the info present in the comment.Last edited by kiran2508; 01-17-2019, 10:01 AM.Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart

Re: CB300R confirmed for India?
Am I the only one here yet, that feels that the CB300R in it's current Avatar is a pretty boring bike; expensive and with no real differentiator? It is beaten hollow by the Duke390 on almost every front, barring supposed reliability, at the same price almost.
But, I would have loved to see a more ADV-Tourer version of this from Honda, given it's geometry, and specs. Then this Honda could have taken on the baby GS at a lesser price, or the Himalayan for a bit more, and beaten both at the game. If Honda decide to build such a version, they can have my money

Re: CB300R confirmed for India?
The reason it's expensive costing as much as the 390 is because the CB300R is built as CKD, meaning every bike part imported and gets assembled here, so each part gets taxed 25% import duty, add another GST of 28%.Originally posted by roy_libran View Postexpensive and with no real differentiator.. ... .... at the same price almost.
Where as the Duke 390 only has 28% GST and no other CKD tax, since the whole bike and its parts is completely built here in India.
If Honda builds the bike here in India, then the price will be almost same as Dominar. So in future they might do it based on the seeing the current response.
So say the ex-showroom price of ₹2.5L, in that Honda pays approx ₹54K as GST and ₹37K as import tax. Seriously almost ₹90K in taxes, meaning the actual bikes costs only ₹1.5L to make for the whole bike! That seems a reasonable amount to me for the bike.
Pathetic taxes, import duty tax, GST, Cess on tax, RTO road tax!
Few more years we will have to pay breating tax.Last edited by kiran2508; 01-17-2019, 12:33 PM.Bajaj SuperFE 150 - Forever in my heart

Re: CB300R confirmed for India?
Actually my crib is less about the price. I feel that the Median Price Sensitivity of an average customer looking in this segment is about 30-40000 bucks. Only beyond this range does it becomes materially more expensive or cheap.Originally posted by kiran2508 View PostThe reason it's expensive costing as much as the 390 is because the CB300R is built as CKD, meaning every bike part imported and gets assembled here, so each part gets taxed 25% import duty, add another GST of 28%.
My crib is more about what the bike offers in it's current form - at least theoretically.
Only today, I have asked a friend of mine who was thinking of buying a Duke390 in March-April, to wait a couple of more months for this to arrive and to put in a provisional booking on the CB for now. After all, it IS a Honda, so am expecting it to be significantly more refined and reliable than the Duke. So, unless it is significantly slower or lacks the handling characteristics vis-à-vis the Duke, it might just work out well for Honda.
But, had Honda decided to make a slight ADV oriented version on this, my guess is, it would have been a runaway winner.

Re: CB300R confirmed for India?
This segment seems to get really interesting now..
It's only behind the Duke 390(264) and Interceptor 650(232) in power to weight ratio. FYI the CB300R is lighter than Interceptor by 58kgs!

Re: CB300R confirmed for India?
May be most think of it as a feature? Most semi experienced motorcyclist aren't going to miss it.Originally posted by Om1234 View PostWhy so much fuss about gear position indicator? anyone with a bit riding experience knows that in which gear he is riding the bike.
It's definitely a beginner friendly feature though.
