Agreed, It might be the fastest!

But koshun is by how much?

eg: when the R15 was launched it was touted to beat the shit outta of any bike in a quarter mile, track etc, etc....but we all know what the result really was.

Do you really think they have done that? I really don't think they have even touched those parts.

I wish some day they do that though!!!

Finally after having been spoken of for countless number of times in most magazine online sites, on a lot of TV channels, wherein everybody knew what the product is all about... finally which is the LAST place that one gets to see some discussion on this inevitable launch... xBhp! Can anyone say why xBhp is the LAST place to see this thread up?

You really think so? In that case, this bike will obsolete in April 2010!

    Let the games begin!

    Just a few realistic points:-

    - 98% of the buyers out there are not xBhpians.

    - 85% of buyers are buying just for the ad, be it with a blind man or with the 'Fastest' tagline

    - At about 70K Ex-showroom, the new P220 with its almost 'Dhoom' looks and 'Fastest' tag should most prolly set the sales charts on fire. And maybe kill the P200 while its doing that....

    - With all the extensive engine work and et all gone into the bike, it still will not be significantly faster than the existing 220. Its just a minor tweak job in the engine. All speculations about performance should be done after the 23rd when someone has a real test run on it.

    - With the apparent increase in torque/power this will still be a scary bike around a corner even with grippier tyres.

    - Does anyone know the exact cost of the Delphi FI Unit? Quite possible that its cost is over 10K and hence its causing this huge price differential now.

PS: Why are we talking about the ZMA and R15 here? This is a product launch thread, not a ownership one! Also neither of the two bike cater to the "Sport City Commuter" segement...

I have a feeling the bike will deliver what we expect it to. Let us wait without resorting to any kind of brand wars. Any good bike landing or being made on Indian shores is a plus for all of us - be it a Yamaha, Honda, Bajaj or even a Kymco!

    Good morning to all..

Q 1. Will this new 220 be seriously be as quick (140 Plus Kmph..??) and really cost so less (70K ex-showroom Delhi)..?

Guess will have to wait till June 23'rd to find that out.

But surely there can't be smoke without fire (Remember the teaser, "When it comes to speed, We Rule the game" which came for the 2009 Pulsar along with the Fast and the Furious 4).. the P220 already was the fastest in straight line (just used to lose out in the twisties). I expect and have faith on Bajaj that this new P220 should definitely be a Speed Demon. I also expect that the suspension to be better (Bajaj doesn't resort to sticker/paint jobs, but improve its bikes with every iterations).

Q 2. If the above is true (seriously fast) will it affect R15's or Karizma's sales..??

If the bike is as good (fast), comes with the same aggressive price tag as the news suggests and proves itself in the initial few months without any major issues, I don't see why not.

Not unless somebody is hell bent for a "full fairing" or is blind like Pankaj Kapur (as in the blind man TV ad who would only go for the Splendor) not to see anything else.

But yes, the new 2009 P220 will definitely have to prove itself (The optimist in me tells that it will).

It still sells, while more faster machines like P220 & R15 are already around.
So it might also be that ke Bajaj will nail itself!
    ok now to this
i have observed people's psychology since time
    lets think now:
70 k ex showroom price mean somewhat near to 78 k on road price in mumbai
    now P220 costs ..... 2K lesser
    has 55/60W projector headlamps ...
    is faster than zma
    spare parts cheaper than zma
    gas shocks....
common man ke eyes mein P220 is more VFM than zma

R15 is a different class .... we xbhpians realize
we talk about engine... we talk about performance ... we talk about LC
for common people .... performance is top speed....
then dont think or even ponder on things like
hey P220 takes 15 sec to reach the same speed which the 15 does in 10 s
neither do they worry about having lean angle sensors.... or fuel injection blah blah........

till now the P220 did not affect the ZMA or 15 because of its quite strange pricing
it was like a beech ka bandar
a relatively middle class guy would say..... arey yar .... 10 k less mein ZMA milta hain.... woh kharid lete hain
a rich guy would say.... arey yar.. 17K more mein 15 mil raha hain... waise bhi thodi roj bikes lete hain.... 15 le lete hain
only few people who realized the need of FI and personal views went for the 220
hence the fi version was never a competitor either for the zma or 15

now they are getting it for price less than both

so lets wait and watch what happens
my brains say what i ve written above
and all said being a honda and a die hard zma fan myself

would you like to bet your zma on this ?

first and foremost ...... you meant offense or not
i dont like people talking about INDIA in the middle

why tell things like Ye India hai meri jaan, yaha kuch bhi ho sakta hai
a person who is from a different country may take it in a wrong sense and does nothing but brings bad name to our country
and that person may act as a chain telling this thing to many ( tens , hundreds or etc... ) in his country ,,,, they will visit this and read and then tell it to further many

you may not have meant it in a wrong sense and being an Indian you have the same right as me to talk about our country and things related to it

but please avoid using such sentences and phrases like this
you must be thinking maine kaha ka kaha bol raha hun

    but whatever it is
humble humble request to you brother,,,,
    and fellow xbhpians also please

ps: dont tell a person from outside may not know hindi ..... lol
    there are people who know

@ mods : please dont delete
this might be OT for you but this is very important
so please request you also to let it remain

This makes most sense right now , if this is true.

Just give me the Ninja god damn it!
