Think before speaking , the 220 has tubeless tires that wont leave you stranded on the middle of the highway pushing your bike ,it has projector so the cows and buffalos on road are better illuminated , it does not suffer from severe power loss that Zma gets at high altitute , more stable on highway with crosswinds , is more fuel efficient and so has a better range .
So its obvious who is the better touring machine .

    . I hope its a new engine!
You are right the Pulsar engine has been tuned for Low-Mid Power.. for the sake of Fuel efficiency and better city driveability.
But with the fastest bike claim, maybe the state of engine tune has been altered as well.. its not too difficult (especially with carbs).

I have ridden both. Ofcourse ZMA is much more comfortable to ride. Also engine less revvy and remains stress free. But a 220, has much more positive points as a tourer. I guess you haven't tried comparing the projector headlights to candle lights! And Highway handling and reliability? Give me break! Try finding any of the parts of a ZMA in remote places!

ALL i need to say is i am a very happy FI owner . DO all FI owners BaCk Me Up On ThIs ??..I am too, itching to find out how the new kid(kids) on the block will perform.... the post that started off with some news had led to a legal debate about performance, looks etc etc.... Just wait guys....

I think I'm in the wrong place now.
Dude, 130kph that your friend saw on his RTR is on the speedo. That much is a true 118kph on the RTR. So if the bike has to achive a true 145, the digi speedo will indeed indicate upwards of 150-155kph. And the manufacturer claimed 15.2ps (not bhp) is approx a true 14 odd bhp only at the crank.
Bajaj and every other maker over-claim their actual figures as part of the marketing stunt. An R15 makes 15.75bhp true at the crank in reality and some 14.xxbhp at the wheel.
The pulsar 220 makes around 18bhp true at the crank.
A fully blown TVS racing group B RTR 160 which pumps approx 21bhp and weighs 75-80kilos clocks 140kph in 600mtrs. So just relate what I'm saying.

P220 was better in every other criterias. Yeah, I can not comment about reliability - I do not own one. Just stating my opinion.
+1. He already got a warning from the mods for that. But still he doesnt change.

If only you strip an R15 engine will your respect increase for Yamaha's clever engineering. All the brochures and pamplets dont tell half the story. FYI a stock R15 will only clock a true 130-132kph in optimum conditions.
So thats why I echo that it will need more than 21bhp to get that loco to clock 145kph.
And a 4-valve is too much to ask for the price they gonna offer at.

i know some of u might say that apache is lighter but how much more bhp will be needed for that extra weight?

Oh come on dude, I know I can expect that much from Bajaj, After all its not a stickering company .
When the P220 fi was showcased in auto expo, many were skeptical about it to making it to showrooms as Led tails, oil cooler, FI, digi speedo were as good as james bond car's features in indian market. Now you know these features are passe.
Bajaj dares to play the radical game and when it comes to changing the rules of indian automotive industry, nobody does it better than Bajaj. I woudnt be surprised at all if Bajaj comes out with the specs i mentioned.

It just depends on how the power curve of the new p220 wud be, it needs to be more peaky to do that, if the peak bhp is at around 9k rpm and peak torque around 7.5-8k rpm with 4valves and well sorted out 6 speed gear box with kerb weight around 140kgs then 140kmph plus would be very much achievable
or am i asking for too much??
