Right said, there are many customers who do not look for exclusivity but are more bothered about "Safety in Numbers" and an "established brand".Originally posted by rockinggokul View Post
Nope, my Classic CBZ did not have it in 1999.. it wasn't even available as an option back then.. was introduced a couple of years later.. after it was available on other 150 cc competition.Originally posted by veryhiphop View Post

I know that we are all not very pleased with HH and we have a good laugh at it. After we have finished laughing here, I request you to please delete this post!Originally posted by inflammableMind your words...
Moderators will issue an infraction... How dared you to disgrace the Passion Pro by calling its starter motor as Electric Start... Its POWER START dear...
new innovation from Hero Honda.. Such a great innovation that.. the Passion ad revolves around the Power Start.
Its introduced for first time in India.. All the bikes had Electric Start... but Power Start has been unheard off.. before HH introduced it to world.

Its a turbocharged starter motor with inbuilt intercooler and option of putting nitrous oxide.. to boost the performance of starter motor when the bike is not starting. The POWER START feature is so powerful.. that it itself will run the engine (& bike) even when you are out of fuel. Just imagine... Motor is so powerful.. that at the press of button.. it will provide power to crankshaft..
and Passion will vrommmm past even the Octavia 150 BHP RS.

The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Great Strategy!
I don't know if this has occured to anyone here, but I think Bajaj have adopted a great strategy. They will now have captured both ends of the biking spectrum in India..
'The Fastest Indian', & 'The Slowest Indian' (Discover-100)..
The customer can choose what he wants to be among the above 2, plus a lot of other options thrown in between (read XCD135, Discover135, P150, P180)..
My views on the YZF-R15 V2.0: http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/news/198...tml#post699240
The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

Not all of them are commuters.Originally posted by rockinggokul View Postwell during my recent trip to mysore-bangalore,i could see many dicovers on the road
even though bajaj has invested much much more in publicizing xcd but still to this day i can see discovers outnumbering (new) xcd's(new) in fsct i see more of xcd 125's than 135's
on part of bajaj i see this is a clever strategy to cash in on existing brandname
well i do not see any reason as to why a 125 or a 135 discover owners would be angry,in fact they'd be happy
most of the owners are normal commuters who'd be happy to see more and more of bikes of same name, reassuring there decision
and regarding bajaj re-entering 100cc,i'm happy that at least there'd be some stiff competition to hero honda
)
Some of them are speed freaks and stunt freaks like me. With the amount of torque the more powerful Discover puts on the road, you could wheelie your way around.
Considering how the Discover 125 performs,I wouldnt be surprised if the Discover 100 is the fastest commuter.Originally posted by tibby View PostI don't know if this has occured to anyone here, but I think Bajaj have adopted a great strategy. No doubt... at what cost? Jackie Chan lost his popularity in IndiaOriginally posted by rajasthan_royals View Postdiscover has much better brand image than XCD or Platina that gut to use Discover name and i think bike will look like previous discovers without that tank extension
BTW, I see desperation on part of Bajaj, none of their models are selling well, Platina125/XCD125/XCD135/Disc135 are all no-sellers. Bajaj's only way is to launch new bikes and gain some numbers, this funda will no longer work as people are already confused b/w various models and their VFM quotient. The new Disc. may sell well initially, but no one can stop CD-Delux and it's siblings munching greater numbers with still more vigour !! According to me CD-Delux is the most valuable bike in India, right it's people's verdict, not just mine.

Unexpected move by Bajaj regarding the branding.Discover has a good brand name with the masses but i wonder whether it will click with the econo-commuters as Discover were known for smaller alternatives to Pulsar so the word 'performance' comes first into the mind.Repositioining it as a pure mileage bike will be interesting to watch!!

My dear, there where two companies that introduces electric / Self Start prior to hero honda
its was Kinetic GF 125 (2001, http://www.kinetic2wheelers.com/show...f125/index.php) and then came Pulsar 180cc with electric start, and 150cc with optional electric start model (2001). Hero Honda CBZ got self start in 2004 (Hero Honda CBZ - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)Last edited by viny; 07-08-2009, 12:51 PM.Somebody Stop Me.....

Without 100ccs Bajaj is selling close to 1 lakh 70 thousand bikes....
Last month Bajaj sold 48 thousand Pulsars, rest all were brands
Bajaj has a branding scheme..
Platina is the base brand, followed by XCD , followed by Discover, followed by Pulsar
Looking at this, discover would not be priced at rock bottom prices...!
But one point to be noted is..
When Bajaj used to sell 100ccs, Hero Honda sold month bikes in the range of 2-2.5 lakhs....
With Bajajs exit, Hero Honda now sells bikes in excess of 3.5 Lakhs per month.
Its obvious that HH has gained the most in terms of volumes
Lets see how does this product work out for Bajaj.2002 - Pulsar 150 Classic (Still owned)
2005 - Pulsar 150 Dtsi (Still owned)
2006 - Eterno (sold)
2008 - Dio (Owned)
2009 - Pulsar 220 DTSi
