@pavanchirmade: I agree. There's so much negativity about *everything* that Bajaj does on the forums, it's as if they were paid to do it lol.

I've owned a Splendor before. It was reliable, yes. But what it didn't have was character. Not an ounce of it. It was like a donkey, taking all the flogging without complaint and working till it drops dead. Not once did I ever look back at it after I parked it. I can say the same for every Honda-based bike except for the CBZ. I replaced it with a Pulsar in late 2004.

I think the 100cc Discover is a great idea. The Discover already has a rep as one of the better bikes made by Bajaj. As long as they keep the quality at least as good as the other Discovers, it should sell well.

BTW, wasn't there a Discover 112 before? I remember reading about it.
This sig made the Kessel Run in less than twelve parsecs. And if you don't know what that means, you're not old enough to. :D

Yes it was a 112 then 125 and then 135. All were fine bikes. Decent acceleration , decent fuel eff, decent everything except the lack of the 5th gear.... The discovers have been quite reliable...Its obvious that if one abuses some bike its bound to become unreliable and unstable..Every bike every engine needs a bit of pampering.

A small correction... It was the 125 first then 112 and then 135
Then it was rumoured that the withdrawn caliber 115's engine was tuned & launched under Discover's brand name as Disco 112 .

i think the 112 was called DISCOVER JADOO.It was in the market for only a month i believe!
it was not having caliber's engine though. It was having CT100 engine with some tuning. This was the info given by one sales rep in bajaj showrom.

And the CT100 engine was itself based on the Caliber/Boxer block!!

Actually, I looked it up and 'Jadoo' was the marketing campaign for the Discover, not a brand name. There was this ad with a guy on a Discover outrunning a Harry Potter lookalike on a broomstick.

All the Calibers were 111.6 cc. I know, because I wanted to buy one, and went and got a brochure. The same engine with K-Tec (anti-friction stuff and other refinements) was used for the Caliber 115 and for the Discover 112. Nio got it right.

saw a Discover 100 dts-si on the road today..It looks rocking, considering the fact that it is being marketed as a low end Commuter bike..The Tail light(LEDs) is very distinct..The Bajaj site is marketing the bike forward as a Long Distance commuter...a touring commuter bike..more like an Oxymoron....

Normally low capacity bike owners shy away from xbhp, there's no ownership thread of Splendor I guess (World's largest seller)

I too aquired a low profile bike (not 100cc though) on Ganesha Chathurthi , but I feel shy to post it here ....

Which bike bro! I am sure you had your reasons and practicalites in mind when you chose your "low profile" bike and I am sure it will serve it's purpose so why be shy?? Please share with us.

The bike looks great and i think its going to conquer the 100cc segment also..... hats off bajaj for your technology on low end bikes.....

Auto Choke / Dry battery ..... This is not even available on many high end bikes....

Disco 100 is indedd very good package with proper pricing, but it needs do the trick to to attract the customers from 100cc segment.

So we need to see how bajaj markets and campains its re-entry in 100cc segment. I hope they dont claim fancy mileage figures again.

But I guess people just don't buy 'high mileage' even though it's an important factor. Splendor is bought for it's Durability, Low maintainence and reliability which also means better quality build, long lasting, high re-sale value, trouble free ownership etc etc

If mileage was a factor then CT100/Platina/XCD125 might have beaten HH's 100cc black n blue long time back. But Splendor and it's siblings still rule millions of hearts and it's not just b'cos of 'stunning mileage' but other factors mentioned above.
As far as I remember, the Caliber, 4S Champion and its iterations, Boxer and its iterations, Hoodibaba, CT100, Platina.... all of them sold in big numbers when launched and their sales slid down after a while. All of them had memorable ads made and there's good brand recall. But still the products didn't sustain in the market despite selling so many numbers initially. I think Bajaj has killed the Caliber and Boxer unnecessarily. There's defanitely something missing here that makes a disconnect between the Bajaj 100CC bikes and the customers after a while. It is not the trust in Bajaj's name or the brand recall. A new Bajaj bike generally sells much more than a new HH bike. But HH manages to increase the sales continuously over a long period.

XBHP is not meant for Powerfull bike Owners....Nor the Moderators said it anywhere nor any genuine biker said this to any one.....

But there are few Mad cracks who are not fit to be an member of Public Forums think they have a Powerfull bike and criticise fellow members who own Lower CC bikes.....

Remember A biker is a biker doesnt matter he owns a 100cc bike or an 1000cc Bike.....

I belive there is an thread active for TVS50 toooo,,,,,
