@Praful: Rightly said. The P200 does look bigger overall, and that scoop thingy - I didn't know that. Perhaps, that is one of the main reasons that the P200 looks so attractive even thought the P180 inherited the looks of the 200.

Yes a few parts were indeed unique to P200 but look at it this way, BAL still provides parts for the older versions of P150 & P180 so there is no reason to worry about parts.

Praful the 180 has rear sets, check the pics on BAL website.

Btw It just striked me that the Avenger still has 200's engine

If it too gets the 220 carb engine, it will be one heck of a cruiser

Sure thing!! Also give it some nice pipes and make it sound like a monster. Thumpy cruiser.
just checked out pics of the p200 and the p180UG4
There is a difference in the tank shrouds. The p200 had black coloured covers for the oil filter. That made it look different. The mounting position is same though.they arent pointing any lower.and the exhaust is obviously different. It has the same wheelbase the same swing arms the same rearsets etc.

with any discontinued product its only a matter of time before parts become a problem too. Im really not gonna bet on it.

For that matter once i've sold my 200, im never ever gonna buy a Bajaj bike again.

IMHO they should have kept the P200 with some upgrades like 37mm forks@/around the price of the P180.. and should have dropped the P180. that would have made the stable look nice P150-P200-P220

Then does the new 180 have the same wheelbase as the 200? For some reason in my mind when I picture the 200 is does look bigger.

Did the 180 get the rearsets of the 200 too?
Aha, so there does seem to be some difference in the way the air scoops are positioned I guess. The wheelbase/rear sets are all the same. Its just that when you see the new 180, you will never mistake it for a 200.

Hey guys, how about replacing the front fairing of the 200 with the TVS FX Champion headlights, a good analog speedo and a CBR type front mudguard - will it look anything close to the exotic X11?

When I said CBR type mudguard this is what I meant. http://www.xbhp.com/classifieds/show...uct/314/cat/10

Looks like Bajaj's stupidest move to me. it was the only good looking Pulsar, the only one in proper proportion...

Ill say its a nice move by Bajaj. About looks the next P180 UG can carry the same looks but the most important thing happened was the P220 was brought to almost the price of the P200.

This is very promising if you are looking ahead. Till date owning a decent performance bike used to be exhorabtly expensive affair though these bikes range from just 150cc-250cc. Every manufacturer could/can charge a considerable premium because they have nice looks() and optionally big(the so called) engines. If these two things are moving to a lower bracket it means its a good move though this will kind of kill the chances of better technologies to come up.

If the P220 sells more than the P200, which i am sure it will. I hope it will be a sign to our manufacturers that there are enough performance junkies around the country now to see dawn of bigger bikes.

^^^But they cud have done same thing to P200 & should've shelved P180 instead...

I personally think it isn't a good move. Still, if they've launched 'the fastest indian' at around 70k off road delhi, hom much would they have priced the 200?? 50k?!

what i fail to understand was that how they justify the cost of the new 180 and simultaneously give us the reasoning that the new P220 could be brought to a lower price (the 200's) but the 200 was more expensive?

Couldnt the 200 be given all the 220's goodies like they've done for most of the upgrades to the new 180 and still reduce the 200's price? Thereby phasing out the 180 and not the 200?

Im sure the upgrades that the new 180 got would have made much needed improvements to the 200.

The fact is that the 200 was the most "complete package" bajaj ever put together. Given their idiotic decision to phase it out, i think they never really understood the 200 at all. Arguably one the best and smoothest engines, great fuel effeciency and very good dimensions (especially for tall riders like me) gave this bike all the attributes that you'd make love to!! (yep had she been a real woman, she'd have been one full bodied babe)

Sadly they never got around to a long term plan for it. Which considering its positioning in the premium segment, it did deserve to have a product development plan in its own right.

In short, i dont subscribe to the economics reasoning given by Bajaj. If the 220 came down to the 200, the 200 could have benefitted the same way with parts commonality to the 220 (just as the 180 shares the forks etc) and could have come down further in price.

In the end Bajaj just made a stupid decision. Thats my opinion.

anyhow, it just leaves the 200 as the odd product out. I've already seen massive erosion in its resale value. And now all that remains is for me to be told that the parts are no longer easily available.
