Couldnt the 200 be given all the 220's goodies like they've done for most of the upgrades to the new 180 and still reduce the 200's price? Thereby phasing out the 180 and not the 200?

Im sure the upgrades that the new 180 got would have made much needed improvements to the 200.

The fact is that the 200 was the most "complete package" bajaj ever put together. Given their idiotic decision to phase it out, i think they never really understood the 200 at all. Arguably one the best and smoothest engines, great fuel effeciency and very good dimensions (especially for tall riders like me) gave this bike all the attributes that you'd make love to!! (yep had she been a real woman, she'd have been one full bodied babe)

Sadly they never got around to a long term plan for it. Which considering its positioning in the premium segment, it did deserve to have a product development plan in its own right.

In short, i dont subscribe to the economics reasoning given by Bajaj. If the 220 came down to the 200, the 200 could have benefitted the same way with parts commonality to the 220 (just as the 180 shares the forks etc) and could have come down further in price.

In the end Bajaj just made a stupid decision. Thats my opinion.

anyhow, it just leaves the 200 as the odd product out. I've already seen massive erosion in its resale value. And now all that remains is for me to be told that the parts are no longer easily available.
    Well said mate !!

I feel it's waste of our time pouring in our opinions (that too after sack) there's no use in debating over 'botched up' strategies ! I still can't believe a good bike like P200 can have a shelf life of just 2 years !!

The P200 was a brave man who sacrificed its life for the prosperity of its elder brother.
Its younger brothers got inspired and the p180 managed to get inspired the most.

I think Bajaj got confused at some point. 220 parts for 200, 200 parts for 180. so now that they have eliminated 200, there will be less confusion.

@ the end of the day its Bajaj ! so lets not expect too much!

May the Mighty 200 live long in our hearts,,,
i'm one of the owners, of the p200, though now i've literally taken a pledge nt to buy a bajaj product after my P200, am feeling a bit too sad fr my bike, cant even resell it nw, as the value has already gone way too down, and the parts issue will bring it down further.

Dnt knw wat bajaj thinks & does but that for sure bajaj needs a revamp in it's thinktank,

as far as making way NINJA is concerned, 200 & NINJA, cnt be compared, 200 has it's own following, & NINJA would have it's different customer base.

BAJA(j) is turning out to be more pathetic in terms of goodwill and branding than hero honda, coz P200 was somewhat like a different brand frm bajaj just like P220.

            anyways, nothing's left & all's gone.

              But P200 Stock looks Amazing!

Ask him more about it! A potential Buyer is Waiting!!
              same news repeated to me...

i dont know why but i dont trust him cuz if 200 was coming in new avatar and that too with a mono shock, then most probably 220 09 model must have had it.

but who knows, 200 was a shock when it was released along side 220fi so may be bajaj is charging itself to give another shock

I just hope they give us a big bloody shock by releasing another killer bike....

A a torquey pulsar classic reborn would be lovely. spoke wheels, that exhaust, that thump, the round headlamp, the RAW naked appeal.....

wel if i m not wrong.. avenger also has same engine..
                        bajaj phasing it out too???

reason they gave explains typical bajaj strategy..they are tryin to produce cheaper bikes and better performance..so..looks are not their priority..
P200 is best looking pulsar..and not its the exclusively best looking...dont know abt the prize..as previously better bikes used to get better resale value even after they were phased out by manufacturers as indian bike industry never had..good bikes launched in succession..

these days..every bike manuf fighting neck to neck giving better options...
p200 resale value was not goin to get any better or worse even if it was still in production..

I really feel good that its no longer manufactured..and it will be exclusive..
i always wanted to own one..but..Fz launched inbetween..and somehow i changed my mind..

                        good move by bajaj..

Some really fortunate ones would boast their P200 to future gen of bikers.............but anyway Bajaj is much more organised now as per the Market.P150,P180 and P220 looks best line up now.P180 will now do good numbers.P220 will now get much more focus as standard flagship bike and not as an Option......due to lower price and absence of P200.Good move by Bajaj.

All we want is a more powerfull bike......

And if u have a Powerfull bike for the same price of its Lower Sibling....
Its the easiest way to accept....

There is no Reason of feeling for the extinction of P200....unless or so u own a P200
