  • Yamaha to launch a new 150CC

Yamaha would display its new 150 CC bike at the auto expo..Link for the news source -Yamaha to double exports;plans to sell 4.5 lakh units in 2010 .:. newkerala.com Online News -113109.When i talked to my friend who is the dealer of Yamaha he told me that in recent meeting of dealers they were told yes a 150 cc new bike would be displayed but no other detail given about it except it will be a completely new model abd not FZ series variant.I guess it might be the gladiator 165 CC.It will be good option for them as they will get 2 options to pit it against pulsar -one being FZ and other Gladiator 165 cc.Other details he told is few scooterates are also going to be showcased and there is also R15 upgrade in plan( broad tyres, led tail lamp, engine tweaking).

link of the thread starter states the news published on 16-Sept, it's too old that's during the launch of VMax, and the official press release on the yamaha website, does not have any mention of such news. I don't think this a reliable news source.

There is not point in having the Gladiator 165... I personally see that as a waste of an investment....
The r15 engine tweaks are already available....
The fz's and the fazer's are there to pit against the rtrs and the pulsars....
The yamaha is practically ruling the 150cc segment now.... If its something new, its either smaller in the 100cc category or in the 250cc category....

actually i think it would be a great move by Yamaha to launch a gladiator 165cc because as of now they have around 10-15 percent in premium and deluxe segment(125 &above) but the fact is that only FZ series has helped Yamaha in achieving this and it has only affected mainly Pulsars market share now ( which means people who want only sporty perfonce bike are opting far Yamaha ).But FZ has not eaten much of share of X-treme,Hunk & Unicorn (it is because normal people who want a 150cc bike but also look for use in commuting and family purpose are not going for FZ as they dont find FZ suitable for this use & this is where Gladiator may fit perfectly).

yes Yamaha would be indeed looking forward to shock all of us again as they did it in last auto expo. They wont be silent anyway in 150 & + segment as they have got good share in it by very hard work and they would not want to lose their hardwork.Whats more exciting are the scooterates that might be launched, personally i just love Fino & 50Cc Neo.
