^^Yamaha had been a first mover in the 300cc+ category with RD350..
Yamaha had been in the lot of first movers in 100cc category with the Rx100. So step by step increment isnt that aspiring!

    About the R15 upgrade..
The tail end and the seats have a chance of upgrade but when it comes to tyres then I doubt the upgrade..
Max it could go upto 110/80 size, above this anything would hamper the performance!
But engine tweaking can take place as the testing version of R15 had been reported to churn out 22Bhp..so why not slightly broader tyres with 1-2 Bhps more than the current one?

The 125cc is already speculating the launch of of R125 so no doubt the discovers, shines, stunners, flames would have some hefty competition soon, it can be a R125 or a brand new Gladi or anything new from the stables.

When it comes to a 150cc then max I can think is a
    Cruiser!
And why not? This is the only segment in Indian market which didnt have anything new from Yamaha.

Yamaha 250cc confirmed news - not official.

Autoexpo will showcase 2 main releases of Yamaha - 250cc - dont know whether it is liquid cooled/air cooled; 150cc scooter.
        This is confirmed news.

There are no plans to change the tyres of R15 since it will alter the handling capacity.

I heard about the 250cc to be launched soon from few mechanics who recently went for training to Yamaha Motor India. But its still a speculation.

                    Hoping for the best!

If Yamaha is gonna launch a 250cc monster then it will definitely compete with the Ninja 250cc. If VMax and MT01 is already launched then we can speculate a 200cc or 250cc Monsters in these coming years.

As for the 4stroke scooters/scooty, I do want Yamaha launches few models this Jan2010. I am bored seeing the similar models of other brands. The models linked/shown by "jetblack" looks appealing especially the Yamaha NUOVO

                    Cheers!

IF Yamaha does launch a 250cc bike, it will mostly be a single cylinder Fazer 250, which is far from the Ninja in terms of performance.

if i am not wrong, there is a restriction on the amount of power a 150cc production vehicle can produce. which is why the R15 was tuned to that limit ( ~17 bhp), and hence the Race ECU and exhaust etc mods mention its not for road use.

The fazer is not in the league of the ninja, though it looks great, but would not perform equally. But a price tag of 1.5-1.7 lakhs would justify it.

yamaha should bring in a cheaper 150 which can appeal to the masses with mileage & looks

a new carbed aircooled 250 will be nice and practical as the FI tech is still not the one for us ordinary indians. if it is relatively light for the procket yet practical it will take on ninja.s and even pulsars .

on scooters the XC JOG looks cute also the MIO

a big bore kit for FZ.s is what i expect on the performance front

last , availability of spares (order & wait for 7 days) and fast & service is what keeps the customer happy

but YAMAHA where is the spares for RX100 &RD350 ????

                              same reply from another thread

a single cylinder 250 at 1.7 lakhs does not sound good enough... yamaha can very well localize it and sell it for 10-20k more than the r15, YAM can also take a heavy beating (for pricing it at 1.7lacs) if bajaj comes up with something similar and a notorious price tag, and surely the fazer/fz 250 cant be comparable to the 250R in terms of power delivery.
