This is indeed a great move by TVS. Now we'll have another competitor in the 200cc + segment. Will it be the Apache 200 or something else?

How did she come to know about RTR 220..Even that would be a 'news' for the R&D guys at TVS!!

TVS Taurus was just an Concept Model and they showed this in the in the Expo some 4 years before....
Never ever expect an Cruiser Monster like Taurus that too with 300cc Mill....
It should be an Apache 200 next from the TVS Stable
Coz Apache is thier Flag Ship Model and they will improve it.....

I am sick and tired of the fake hype these capitalist companies create over future launches! The bikes are not worth the wait! Bajaj and yamaha took a sensible step by launching the Ninja250r and the R15, fully laden with tech and features like a sbk chassis, monoshock!
Just look at the rtr, no monoshock, the 220, no monoshock, even the Zmr is touting the age old twin shocks technology, ...i know many xBhpians swear by these bikes, their relaiblity, their handling, they will definately oppose my view, but i ask you, o fellow biker, dont you want your new performance bike to have the latest features, the modern touches and all?
Even if the Rtr 200 or so, is launched, the new Indian biker will always want 'new' tecnology in his machine! We are waiting, TVS, and the wait better pay

I gun the throttle, the motorbike wails, the forks heave up, the revs climb, my view blurs, air gushes in my lid, muscles tighten, street lights streak. Just another day at work...

^^ monoshock is not compulsory on every bike, a whole lot depends on the bike frame type..

for single or monoshock to work, the swing arm has to be strong and light(read relatively costly alloys) else at least strong (read unicorn :P )..

the combination of saddle frame which most bikes use is hardly any good, i would say the first place to move ahead in terms of advancement would be towards trellis frames with engine as the stressed member or perimeter frames(but these are costly aka R15)

Currently yamaha has the best frames in Indian made 150cc+ category bikes
FZ16 (its "diamond frame" model is not same but similar to ninja 250r) and then the R15.

But if TVS folks can bring out a trellis frame based bike which is feasible for companies with smaller R&D (smaller than likes of yamaha i mean) it would be "pure awesomeness"

@Wheeli Junkie, I quite agree with you that new models, especially those which are of higher capacity i.e. 200+ should come with kickass styling and not merely a cosmetic job, in fact even the RTR 180 should have been styled differently or at least have had significant cosmetic changes done. So let’s hope the new bike will be a six speed multi cylinder high performance bike from TVS

All I hope from TVS is
                    1) It should NOT be 200... from 180 to 220 make more sense, else phase the 160!
Better Make it 200 Carb and 220 FI :P
                    Make that a DC setup
I dont care if it has a monoshock or not, full fairing or not!

Better Tyres = 1350 for front and 1800 for rear

+1 to that. Also i am sincerely hoping they come out with a newly developed block. The Fiero mill has become a little too long in the tooth even if it's highly potent.

TVS should use their partnership with AVL to full extent and come out with something different.Whatever,it may be it will be a cracker for sure!!

they already have a LC 250 cc engine. they have been using it in their motocross bikes for racing for some time now.
dont know why they are not building a road bike around that?
i wouldnt mind it if they put it in the rtr itself.. with just a front fairing change.

Nooo, no more same old regular Apache design. Had enough of it!!

They even have a 185cc DOHC engine It was posted in their homepage couple of years back. Seems like they have completely forgotten about it as they got busy with scooters and mopeds!!

There was a post from someone in Pune that the RTR 200 has come to ARAI for homologation.

I believe TVS wants to make best use of the existing infrastructure and parts to cut down on costs like how Bajaj did for the Pulsar's. They have now probably maxed the Fiero engine bock with a 200 CC setup on the same Apache platform (I just hope there are some noticeable visual changes).

And the next bike after this one should be a big step for them.
