  • Bajaj is doing a Maruti. Flood the market with options that are closely related in terms of platforms, each having its own USP. So when the customer gets to the market to choose, if 7 out of 10 options out there are yours, the probability of "one of"
your product being bought is multifold! And the input costs for differentiation are minimal. So rule! Makes sense to me.

    • Guys I am surprised after reading some of the comments here? What were you all expecting?

I mean come on, other companies are still dishing out 150s & 180s for ~75k & people are happily paying for that without any complains & here is a company giving you all of a 220cc engine with 20 odd horses & people are getting disappointed?

No wonder we dont get powerful yet affordable bikes because people still prefer to have 'looks' over real stuff.

        +1 to that.......

Bajaj is taking the Indian consumers gradually up the cc chart i.e. 150-180-200-220 and at an affordable price....
though I would have loved it if the S had new projector headlamps....

any idea about the ex-showroom price....? and about that headlamp..i.e. the wattage nd dc or ac?

          • I, for one am happy with the new P220. The best just got better. (in terms of VFM) A 60/55W h/l in that unit will be very respectable too.

            • Lot of people will dislike the fact the 220S, has same dome as 150/180s. But considering the price its even earth shattering VFM. If TVS can have Apache 180, Yamaha with FZ/FZ16 and even fazer I see no point in criticizing Bajaj.

It's important to underline the fact that a unfaired version had to be cheaper than 220F at same time costlier than P180, and with the current setup that's exactly what was needed.

Projectors would definitely had looked good, would had added weight, 2 bulbs etc escalating the cost. If i'm not wrong a projector setup will added weight on a smaller frame of 220S would have affected handling and turning ability of the bike.
Even the weight of a HID ballast inside the dome affected the bikes dynamics in my case. In fact kudos to Bajaj for providing at least the 55W headlight setup (if it's there)

BTW one my friend is looking out for the 220S, any idea on the sprocket count (gearing)?

So I guess its finally time for the P150 to go.... first the 135 LS and now similar styling to 150-180-220S!

                • Is there anyway that any of these improvements on the 220-S be "Retrofitted" to the existing 200??

                      • yes the price & power is just superb deal. But atleast to differentiate other pulsars, i would had expected a slight change in design. I have seen many P150 guys have stickers of p220 & p200 on their rear cowl

                          But heck thats dirt cheap

                          • 73k for such power is just amazing... but look wise, totally disappointed...

and the next model i guess would be a naked street fighter with the classic doom... the 220 dtsi first had a half faring, then dropped to the wolf eye... and next is just the classic headlamp which is left, oh yes or even the mask from the UG2.... if they are dropping to previous looks, they might aswell go to the very beginning.... IMHO, the classic pulsar was the real street fighter(look-wise)..

                            • Without the faring & 3-4 kilos shaved it is much flick able than P220 F in city traffic.

@ P220 F owners: What's your bike actual weight?.Some says 150,some says 152 & What mileage you guys getting in city driving & highway driving ?
While the P220 S is shaved 3-4 kilos removing the faring it might get a little fuel economy over P220 F.
