Yea! It looks like a disc guard gosh! What's the logic it ll prevent the rotor from getting wet I guess!?!?! Never seen anything like this on any bike so far! Bajaj's innovation team thinks rather out of the box I should say!

looks like a cover for disc ,may be to protect against dust which tends to accumulate over the calipers and disc and makes them squeal everytime the brake is applied.only time will tell whether it works.

but atleast from the pics !! it looks like its not covering the caliper !! but the disc rotates !! even if the upper part is covered the bottom part is still exposed may be bajaj knows it better !!
may be its one of those silly concepts like first seen on the xcds wer the number plate was mounted on the mud guard with sought of spring so they can compress and decompress when the shocks moved up and down !! this was done supposedly to lower the faring !! lets see wats the explanation for this !!

@chickyheart--lol i was jobless man !! was actually checking out the disc calipers wich wer painted black !! which ive not seen on any Indian bike !! then ended up seeing this plastic covering

Some off-roading motorcycles have it. Have a look at the TTR!
The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!
