So, Disco 150 2 valve 143+cc engine is out. Discover range will most probably have 2 valve configuration in all sizes. This means, Pulsar brand will soon convert to 4 valve configuration across all ranges.
Discover 135 13 PS at 8.5k rpm 2 Valve
Discover 150(144 cc) 13 PS at 7.5k rpm 2 Valve
Pulsar 135 13.5 PS 4 Valve

Source: Bajaj launches the Discover 150: Price, specifications and all the details - Motoroids.com

Guys, this is nothing like the Discover 150 shown at Auto Expo... So guys, do you think Discover 135 would be phased out? Well, I think so...Bajaj Auto Limited today launched the Discover 150 at Taj Krishna hotel in Hyderabad. The new 150cc bike which is going to straddle the Pulsar 135 and the Pulsar 150 as a powerful commuting machine will be priced attractively at Rs 46,000 ex-showroom. Bajaj has given the tagline 'More Excitement Per Litre' to the new bike and it offers a combo of power and fuel efficiency as its USP.
The show at the launch venue started with the advertisements of the Discover 135 and the marketing blokes at Bajaj stressed on the success of the Discover brand in India. Woth more than 6 lakh discovers already running on the Indian roads, the brand has definitely been one of the successes for the company. the company also talked about the Discover 100 launched in July 2009 and the success it enjoyed.
The engine employed in the new bike is a BS-III compliant unit and is one of the cleanest among its peers. The bike will be offered with Disc Brake and Electric Start options. The 144.8cc engine is good for 13.0PS of peak power at 7500 rpm and 12.75 Nm of peak torque at 5500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed transmission.
The marketing head honchos, on selecting Hyderabad as the launch city, said, they chose the city as in Andhra Pradesh very few people buy entry level bikes. People usually buy delux & SPorts Bikes. And since the new Discover offers more for the ambitious commuter, Hyderabad was the perfect choice.
The Discover 150 is a minimalist design, and doesnt have any fancy items as it focuses on the commuter. However, at the price of 46,000 rupees, getting a 150cc engine should make a lot of commuters go for this one.
There are good chances that the Discover 135cc will be phased off once the firm launches the 150cc Discover. According to various dealers, Bajaj has already stopped the supply of the Discover 135 which makes the speculation a bit more concrete.
Because at a price of 46k ex showroom, a 144cc engine would be great enough to kill the 135!Last edited by Samarth 619; 05-11-2010, 01:36 AM.---

why could they not tune it to 13.5 ps and make it identically specced as a unicorn? anyways.. d135 ws 13.1ps.. why the power drop? how much more wuld monoshock have costed?Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Difference is in RPM : 7500 in Disco 150 vs. 8500 in Disco 135. So, it is a relatively relaxed cruiso-commuter.why could they not tune it to 13.5 ps and make it identically specced as a unicorn? anyways.. d135 ws 13.1ps.. why the power drop? how much more wuld monoshock have costed?
Discover 150 is a Bajaj version of HH Achiever. Just a solid 150 cc engine with no frills and with analogue console. And the price says it all.The Original CBZ

I got a weird feeling that they will re-introduce good old Disco 125 in place of Disco 135Originally posted by Samarth 619 View Post
