Delhi Auto Expo – Yamaha

Yamaha does not have any elaborate plans for the Delhi Auto Expo but it is not lying low either. Yamaha is planning to bring its 2010 YFZ-R1 to India this year and the model will be one of the biggest attractions at the Yamaha pavilion at the Delhi Auto Expo. One of the classy sports bikes in its segment, the new model features ultimate performance and controllability driven by superior and upgraded technology with 998cc engine. The company said about the new updated version: “We will launch a new version of YZF-R1 in India in 2010. The bike will be a bit more expensive than the existing YZF-R1, but will have the same 998cc engine.” The model will be available in three colours –Bluish White, Metallic Black and Yamaha Blue.

Yamaha R125 model has been in air since two years but the model seems to be finally coming to Delhi Auto Expo in January. The company intends to showcase the model at India’s biggest auto event but there is no official information about the same. More details about the same will be available when the model is finally launched in India.

Yamaha is also expected to introduce three new scooters in India - Yamaha Neo 50cc, Yamaha Fino 115cc and Yamaha Spark 135cc. the models are already running successfully in Thailand and now Yamaha intends to tap the scooter market in India as well.

Delhi Auto Expo – Suzuki and Ducati

Premium bikes or super bikes are in demand in India and that encourages bike manufacturers in India to introduce premium bikes in India that attract 113 percent import duty. Bikes with 500cc to 2500 cc engine capacity fall in the category of superbikes and sell for Rs 10-60 lakh in the country. The largest selling bike amongst all is Rs. 12.5 lakh Hayabusa.

Suzuki Motorcycles India Pvt Limited is 100% owned subsidiary of Suzuki Motor Corp., Japan. The company is quickly increasing its market share in India. It now intends to introduce premium bikes in over 1000cc range. It aims to sells 150 units annually. “The superbike demand in India is consistently growing,” said Suzuki Motorcycle India marketing & sales Vice-President Atul Gupta. Apart from its superbikes, Suzuki is also expected to introduce a 150cc bikes in India along with a gearless scooter.

Ducati currently sells its bikes for Rs. 14-60 lakh in India. The company intends to open more dealerships and intends to sells over 150 bikes in India. Its latest models and complete product line up will be on display at the Delhi Auto Expo including Ducati Monster S4RS Testastretta, 1098cc Ducati Superbike, Ducati Hypermotard 1100S, 1198cc Ducati Superbike 1098R and 848cc Ducati Superbike.

Delhi Auto Expo – Honda Motorcycles

Honda marks its presence in the India as Hero Honda and Honda Motorcycles and Scooters India Limited. The company holds nearly 50 percent market share in the country with its two companies. HMSCI has announced that it will introduce its new two-wheelers at the Delhi Auto Expo 2010 priced at Rs. 48,000. However, the bikes will be commercially available in three versions only by March 2010. The company will showacase its 110cc CB Twister at the auto event and will also reveal detailed specifications of the model. The model was earlier this month which will be a niche bike in commuter segment but will not be competing with Hero Honda Splendor or Passion.

Hero Honda will also display Karizma ZMR as its main attraction. However, there will be three to four other models in its product line up at the Auto Expo that will be on sale later in the year. Hero Honda will be present at Hall #07 and will also feature a new technology section for the visitors.

TVS goes Hybrid at Auto Expo 2010

Bangalore, 31 December 2009: TVS Motor Company will showcase its range of vehicles including those that run on alternative energy sources at the up-coming auto expo in New Delhi. The company has also provided the organizers with eight hybrid two-wheelers and five hybrid auto-rickshaws. With the Hybrid-TVS KING, TVS Motor Company announces the arrival of the world's first mild hybrid - plug in � CNG 3 wheeler. The vehicle's cutting edge technology features a high efficiency axial flux motor coupled with the engine to provide power assistance during acceleration. This effectively supports the low emission CNG engine to ensure vastly reduced overall emission levels. TVS King Hybrid brings down the CO2 emission level by 22% and HC+ NOx emission by over 20%. When managing the power assist operation, the intelligent micro-controller based high efficiency power drive, additionally recovers the energy available during deceleration and braking by the way of regenerative charging.
