@all: Me and Ken da were there at the Auto Expo today, to set up the xBhp stall, and we also got the opportunity to attend the official Press Conference with SIAM and CII. I am happy to report that the xBhp stall is finally up, with great help from MG, Old Fox, Roger sir, Augusta.

As far as the G2G is concerned, a new thread regarding the xBhp Mega G2G would be up in about a couple of hours' time. Hence, this thread is hereby locked to avoid any kind of confusion. Please keep an eye out for a brand new thread regarding the Mega G2G.

        Thanks,

          • Auto Expo 2010 - xBhp Mega G2G [Delhi - 9th January, 2010]: Be there!

With the advent of the 10th Auto Expo, 2010, at Pragati Maidan, all the automobile market has simply come alive. This is after all, the complete automotive show. On this great occasion, let us celebrate the spirit of motorcycling and biking brotherhood through a Mega G2G (Get2Gether).

Please read below for the details. It is after a really long time that we would be having a G2G of such proportions, especially because of the fact that xBhpians from all parts of India would be participating in this.

What - An xBhp Mega G2G, on the occasion of the 10th Auto Expo.

            When - 9th January, 2010 - Saturday

Where (Destination) - xBhp Official Dhaba, Qutub Institutional Area, near Katwaria Sarai.

Plan - xBhpians must gather just outside the Gate No.7 of Pragati Maidan, at sharp 5pm. From there, we would go together to the xBhp official dhaba, located at the Qutub Institutional Area, Katwaria Sarai.

All the xBhpians who are from Delhi: It would be great if some extra lids can be arranged which would help the xBhpians who are coming from other states to wear them while they ride pillion/ rider.

Those who have four-wheelers: Please try and make your car available so that atleast a few of us can sit in the available cars and go to the dhaba.

            Time: 1700hrs. (5:00pm)

Where: Pragati Maidan, just outside Gate No.7

Agenda: There is no specific agenda for such a Mega G2G except to meet, greet, chat and some healthy and fruitful discussion with fellow xBhpians and bikers. Since xBhpians from other states would also be joining in, it would be a good opportunity to share our experiences about the Auto Expo, and other facets too.

P.S: Please make sure that you are wearing lids, proper riding gear (for those who would be on bikes) and carrying valid vehicle papers with you, viz-a-viz:
            Valid Driving Licence.
            Valid Insurance papers.
Valid PUC (Pollution Under Control) Certificate.

            Important:
Ofcourse, as we mention time and again, absolutely no kind of stunts, dragging, hooliganism would be allowed in the G2G. If your main idea of attending such a Mega G2G is to spread nuisance, then we would appreciate if you do not attend this (or ANY other) weekend get-togethers.

For the benefit of one and all, the map of Qutub Institutional Area is attached in this post. Hope to see you guys there.

            Thanks,
            -Aryan

                  • 10th Auto Expo: An Introduction!

4th of January, 2010, I walked in through gate number 2 of Pragati Maidan, New Delhi and walked towards the inaugural media addressing at the 10th Auto Expo on the first genuine wintery morning. As listened to the panel speaking, a cold truth dawned on me, a biker, colder than the chill of the morning air. As the panel spoke of the ineluctable growth in the Auto Industry, both in manufacturing and consumption, there was nothing much exciting on offer for the two wheeler industry.

What we got in that short interactive session at the makeshift inaugural address, was the amount of money that companies were pumping in for compact cars; notably $400Million by VW, half a billion USD by Ford and $1Billion by GM. Besides this, there is considerable investments happening in the component manufacturing segment. $1Billion coming in every fiscal for the same. Indian manufacturers are getting to get a global footprint in the components manufacturing sector. In all this, the downside emerged wherein we saw the lack of incentive for exports resulting in a paltry sale of 500 000 units in exports.

In the course of the discussion, talks veered to Road Safety which is always a burning issue in this country and we all are aware that not much is being done to promote Road Safety. To which the panelists responded by saying that however much is done for safety, it can never be enough. They have organized for this Expo, entry for children in schools during business hours to learn Safety Norms in specially created pavilions at the Fair Grounds. They are also organizing yearly training programmes for 500 000 Truckers to sensitize them in this regard.

As the curtain raiser press conference came to a close, I went out to check some of the vintage beauties that had been parked just outside embellishing the event.

The two wheeler industry may not look very bright this time around with momentous releases and exciting launches. But there might be some excitement nonetheless at Yam and Honda and maybe some others... Keep watching this space and the Auto Expo section for further updates.

                    • Augusta reached the xBhp stall this afternoon. Aryan and I were still at the Press Conference. He made it up to the Mezzanine floor with over 30 kilos of cumbersome material. He paid a porter to get it done. Moon and I had earlier got the formalities done, registration on the spot, getting the Exhibitor Passes made, getting the Media passes made, calling all concerned... putting things in place... and finally they started arriving, the members, volunteers and the material required to embellish and proudly showcase what xBhp has done and what we are striving forward towards... the tagline being... "Inspiring by Safe Riding"

This is what the stall looked like late afternoon...

                      And then things started progressing...

In the evening, Old Fox, Roger were putting up the posters. The Video was running in the background... MG came down as well. And finally, Dipankar was present to help out as well in his enthusiastic self. His sister, Richa was distributing candies to us. It was a lovely gathering at the xBhp Ride Safe stall with a nice ambience.

I totally agree with you. I was stunned at the finish, the detailing... everything... including the 350 odd Bhp, matching up to the Volvos and Mercedes and Ivecos of the genre! The trailer had the regular number of axles. Regular payload of 40 tons I assume.
