  • Mahindra Two Wheelers

Two important things happened at Mahindra in 2008 and 2009. One which we are all aware of, their buy out of stakes with Kinetic India. With that stake, they ineluctably entered the competetive field of two wheelers in India. And thus they introduced their models that we know of and have seen coming on the roads, the Duros and Flytes. The second important event that took place and that fewer of us are aware of was the buy out of Engines Engineering. Engines Engineering is a design firm originally from Europe who have crafted Engine and body designs for various two wheeler manufacturers in Europe and Japan. With this takeover, Mahindra has started seriously dabbling in sincere in-house design, development and production. And evidently, they found it apt to put up an interesting stall in the two wheeler sector. I had a very interesting discussion in this regard with PR Manager of Mahindra Two Wheeler Sector. They have managed to develop and design a brilliant prototype of a 124cc capable of delivering 50+bhp which they have put up on their stand. Although it is only a concept, one can easily make out the way Mahindra is headed. Talking to him I realised that Mahindra is definitely quite bullish and very ambitious in the bike segment. If things go well, there might be some interesting bike(s) introduced in the latter half of this year.

        • Mahindra Navistar Trucks

Mahindra, being bullish in the automotive sector, realising the economic growth possible in this country has gone ahead in a venture with Navistar, an Illinois based transportation solutions company to develop and commercially produce a whole new range of trucks that will soon see the light of day on Indian roads in a means of decongesting the age-old wooden trucks that we have been seeing for half a century! Their product lineup is impressive with trucks, dumpers and medium capacity luxury buses. Two of their trailer truck lineup are MN40 and the MN49 which as the names suggest have payloads of 40 tonnes and 49tonnes respectively. Both have a bhp of 260 @ 2200 rpm, gradeability upto 25%, 9 forward gears, cruising speeds of over 80kmph, tilt and telescopic power steering, AC cabins, vehicle tracking system and other technical goodies. With such hefty investments, are we looking at major changes in the goods transportation sector?

No.really dont think so...it will not be viable. Some major discussion on this was happening in other threads.
R series bikes are available in the same colour scheme...white and red..thats all!!!

                      And just one more thought.
why is Honda and Yamaha not launching any major new bikes...well..why mend something that is not broken !!
See Honda sells unicorn, shine, stunner well..so just improve them and sell more...
Yamaha sells R15 (as it is), Fz and Fazer..so why anything else...let more of these bikes come on to the road...unicorn will sell, FZ will sell, Shine will sell, stunner will sell...so why change it...let sales happen. Same for Bajaj and HH..they are selling well.

Only TVS actually has a major and important launch..the scooter WEGO and cluthcless JIVE.

                      Just my opinion Ok...

I may be wrong but where did you see twin shocks?

                              • The truck aesthetic design looks mean. But I think it was a bad idea to base the bus's design on the same structure. In my opinion buses should appear strong and friendly. It would be interesting to do a comparo between the TATA's and the Mahindra's trucks

Edit: it looks like a mini bus. makes the design look even worse (or am I stuck in the box?)
