A tear rolls down my cheek.

Threads like these make me believe the fact that I can own a super-bike one day too. Biking has always been one of those things that put a smile on my face, no matter how small the distance of travel is. Always have loved the way litre-class beauties sound and handle and perform and accelerate and brake and just shine in the afternoon sun on the shimmering asphalt.

Your write-up is truly fantastic, and as Old Fox sir said, your emotions were in every word that I read. I really do believe now that I can make it to that goal too. I can achieve this dream one day. With my own money.

As you said, the feeling of seeing your name on the RC book is just sensational. I experienced that when I bought my humble 150cc bike. God only knows how you must have felt with the mighty R1.

I've had the Honda CBR1000RRs poster stuck on my wall since I was 16. There have been other posters in my room, but this one is never touched. Its always up there. As soon as I get up, I see it first, before anything else. And this has been happening for the past 3.5 years. More recently, my dream bike has shifted to the mighty S1000RR, but the CBR will be the first bike I own. Thats is guaranteed.

Btw, Congrats on this. May you and your machine be inseparable for eternity

            Awesome-o

first of all congrats there brother !!!!!!

yours is a story that we might just see in some upcoming motivational movie.
frankly I never even venture to read the posts in this section. yes there is alot of excitement and thrill on reading about the xperiences of some guy who owns a sbk in india got it imported from the states where he has a 600 acre house with 2-3 ferraris and 5-6 lambos, and even owns a plot of land on the moon, but the the aftereffects of reading such articles are Misery Pain and a feeling of being Helpless (no offence to anyone :P). But your story has left me with goosebumps, and that my friend is a very tough statement for a man to make (that too on a hardcore biking forum). your story is something evryone can relate to. it reminds me of a scene from 'Batman Begins' where ras'al'ghoul shouts at batman while traing him and tells that "training is nothing, WILL IS EVERYTHING". Now i even don't know why am i connecting it there but i guess you are yet another person who vouches for that "WILL IS EVERYTHING" quote. out of sheer respect for you i would like to say "where there is a will and determination there is a R1".
kudos to your 'obsession turned possesion'.
long live the mighty R1 and its humble rider.

as they say in the army 'would be a honour fighting and dying by your side, seargent'
so i say here 'Would be a honour riding by your side someday !!'

                1 Year Aboard THE ONE

Its been a wonderful year with the R1...I was subjected to a lot of new experiences...
Suddenly people give way for you on the highways(unlike for a rider on Pulsar)...

The what mileage and R15 Modified huh? questions became an everyday affair...
People welcome you into Fuel Stations and sometimes even fill an xtra litre for a photo with the R1(happened on Tumkur Road)..

There have also been wannabe Rossis, who try to show all their tricks on road in the presence of my bike....

People no longer notice the actual you(not that I am complaining)..You are tagged as the R1 guy...

This one year has a very steep learning curve for me in terms of Riding techniques and offcourse the value of Patience, it was very tempting initially just to open the throttle at a traffic signal(Traffic Lights GPs) and I did a couple of times, but now I have come to terms with the enormous power of this beast and have atmost respect for the most sophisticated tool on the R1:"THE THROTTLE"...

Riding an SBK in Indian traffic conditions needs two vital things
                1) PATIENCE(lots of that)
2)CONCENTRATION(need tonnes of it, one lapse could send you and a couple more to heaven)

More on the ownership expenses coming up

I still remember your queries when you were about to make the deal
Really nice to read your experiences post one year. Wishing many happier miles on your R1 in 2011 and beyond...

Edit: I still haven't seen your bike in flesh or met you after the Kanva G2G (2007 i guess) and that's all my fault of not attending G2Gs till now, hopefully this will change this year

You must have some outrageous self-control/discipline.
