I happened to visit the Ducati showroom here in Johannesburg today to find out more about the 1199 and boy, was it worth it.
No, i didnt get to see the 1199, but got loads of first hand information about the bike from the owner of the showroom, who happens to be a good friend of mine, who was also present at Abu Dhabi and did manage to lay his hands on the gorgeous bike.
If what he says is to be believed, this would be one of the best ducati one could buy.

Now this guy worked with hondas for 20 years before opening ducati franchise, and he says, sitting on the bike , takes him immediately back 10 years and the bike feels like a cbr954 and the early fuel injected 1000RRs.

when u ride the bike in one of those docile fuel maps, it feels like a 600rr. He said the bike has got potential to be the perfect starter bike and a perfect pro bike.

cant wait to see it.

ok , the reaso why i got excited were, cuz of these beauties

i think it is a 1198 with an 848 body kit plus tons of other goodies

and i know cars arent our piece of cake, but really, i couldnt resist it

1st major service

So today my bike went in for the first major service, i.e, 1 year or 12,000km.
by bike doesnt have anywhere close to those many kms.
i have clocked exact 5000km on it.
keeping my fingers crossed what the expense are gonna be like, will know by tomorrow

Hey what kind of oil do you use?
Full Synthetic?
My mechanic at the local dealership always tells me to do a regular mineral oil change at least once. So I used mineral oil in my first 600 mile oil change. Next change is at 4000 miles and I will use a full synthetic oil.

hello all
seems awefully quite in here, hope every one is spending their time cleaning, polishing and riding their machines. Or either following Sunny ride around half the world to destination red planet.
in the midst of all this, i managed to attend a rather glamourous event organised by ducati south africa at Kyalami Race Track ( those of u not clued up on this track, google is ur best friend ). it was a free track day with tons of exotic machines.
