This exactly what I was planning to go for over here, but due to a fund crunch, I might have to settle for the 796 (as discussed on pm)

Ride safe, although I'm sure u know that, having to see all those crash patients in ur profession

              Cheers

doc, howzit going at ur end?
yes , finally after 6 odd years after i met u , i decided on buying one for my own.
                  test drove almost every bike
it was a close call between the aprilia rsv4, the streetfighter and the fireblade.
but after i test drove the SF, there was no turning back.
the 796 is a great commuting bike, really flickable, and easy to maintain. go for it , u will love it, dont buy the 696 plz..... it feels too placid.
but then , u are experienced yourself, so u will know what floats your boat :-)

Ride safe, although I'm sure u know that, having to see all those crash patients in ur profession

damn, am fixing atleast 3 broken bones per day , its scary, some times i wonder, why did i even buy a bike..... just some times , but these thoughts go right out of the window as soon as i thro my legs around the beast

                  Cheers

Congratulations!! Thats a fantastic, mean purchase.
I'm sure you are waiting for the rains to stop playing spoilsport, & get to 2.5k on the odo ASAP.
Wishing you millions of happy miles on the bike.

I'm glad to see you started off the mod process with a practical one!! Did you get that from Ducati itself, or is it an aftermarket grill?

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

                              yey!!! saturday is here,
must be honest , i went to bed last night praying to God that , saturday should be a nice bright sunny day.
woke up this morning, too ka peek outside my window..... lo and behold, looks like my prayers have been answered :-)
a quick breakfast, and i was out and about.
didnt go too far, did go to any fancier roads, where usually u fill find tons of bikers and their fancy bikes on their break fast runs.
rather , stuck to a quieter , narrow route, but with tons of twists and turns.
all in , did not do more than 60 km, but it was worth it, enjoyed every moment of it.

conclusion from todays experience, the bike hates to go slow, it feels heavy and feels like u are lugging something along, all along upto 3500 rpm, which is where u will be most of the time in city or townships. i wont say , its overtly uncomfortable in city, but its for sure not as good as a honda or a triumph speed tripple. but i must say, the upright sitting position makes it much better than an 848 or 1198 at slow speeds.
once u get out of city limits to open roads, its a totally different story all together.
at about 3500 rpm, there is a lag in power delivery, dont know what it is or what causes it, but i presume it has to do with the fueling problem, that every ducati is infamous for. hope it gets sorted out after the 1000km service, once i add my termis on, if it doesnt solve the problem, i wil look at flashing the ecu.

beyond 3500, the best just comes alive, at every slightest twist of throttle, the front wheel just wants to lift up ( ok !! i exaggerated a bit , its not that bad )
the power delivery is not as fluid as an in line four , but , it has its own unique charecteristics.
the power delivery beyond 3500 rpm , is raw and aggressive, unlike any in line four ( if any one has intentions of buying an SF, practice being gentle on the throttle )
once you get to 100km/hr, it is butter smooth, just briliant, no words can explain how it feels, the deep rumble of the engine with the clutch chatter from under your seat sounds like a big powerful machine gone all wrong ( in a nice way) , i think it all adds up to this bikes charecter.
once you get to 130 km, the wind blast is a ***** , which is a good thing i guess, so u dont over speed ( u can also say, i chickened out at this point , ha ha )
plus its still in running in period.

over all, brilliant 50 km, totally in live with the machine, i dont think , i will want to buy any other bike soon, thats what my SF has given to me, the confidence to say that i am out of the rat race, where bikes change every single year.
i know for sure the bike will come to life only after 5000kms, cant wait for it.
and i know this bike is gonna stay with me for life.... no matter what !!
drive safely... if not for you then for the sake of others!!
