Love the All Matte Black-Chrome HD paint scheme

Personally loved the powder coat quality when I had been to the HD showroom in Bangalore ,though could find 883 that day .. Guess can now find one at the Bangalore G2G (i.e. when i can make it to one myself )

It was evening of Saturday, April 16th and I was offline for entire day. I knew that some ride would have been planned in XBhp. Checked the Bangalore G2G thread and bingo. It was a short ride to Tumkur Road CCD. I confirmed and went to sleep. I was also thinking that its probably very short ride. My intention was to complete 300 kms before the weekend.

Morning I woke up and got ready quickly. It took some time to reach the meeting point because of road blockages for Metro construction. Many deviations from MG Road till Yeshwantpur. It was a breezy ride to CCD and enjoyed riding her. I had to control the acceleration because of running-in period and made sure that the gear shifts are happening at the right time. We reached CCD very quick and soon few more bikers joined in.



We had lots of cafe and burgers. It was a lovely morning ride and awesome time spent with the fellow bikers. As usual, we had lot of questions from visitors like "how much?", "whatz the mileage?", "importedaaa". Both me and Adi were standing up to look the bikes at even a sound of "pin drop " to make sure nothing happening near our bikes.

The return ride started and we were supposed to stop at the next fuel station. We didn't find premium petrol and decided to move on. In between the low fuel sign started blinking and my heart started pumping more . It was almost 50 kms of ride on reserve (3 ltrs) and didn't find any fuel station. All of them were on service roads...

As I had mentioned earlier, I wanted to make sure that my bike reads at least 300 towards end of day. So, I decided to take a tour towards Chickballapur and to meet my uncle who is very enthusiastic about bikes. I took a deviation to Outer ring road and saw a HP fuel station. Even there I didn't find Power and decided to go for normal petrol. Filled up for Rs.200 and I was sure about Shell on Airport Road. Damn, the difference in fuel was clearly visible . The sound was a bit different.

The next stop was Shell @ Airport road and did a full tank of Shell Super. It was Rs.75/ltr . As I was aware of speed cameras in Airport Road, I did a slow 60 kmph till Airport. After that maintained my speed between 80-100 and it was absolute bliss to ride on the highway. There was a lot of crosswind and the weight of the bike (250 kgs) along with low center of gravity helped to keep her stable. Reached Chickballapur soon, met my uncle during lunch and return trip started.

After the airport toll plaza, I maintained around 60 kmph. But the speed cameras were not happy. They showed me 73 kmph. I was sure that I never crossed 60, probably a bug in some software and I had to pay for it . I reached the same Shell @ Airport road and did a full tank. I saw that the mileage was around 24 kmpl. Not bad for a 883cc fuel guzzler. Here is a snap @ Shell:



Soon I reached home and was very happy the way the bike handled in both traffic and highways. At the end of the day, I was happy to have completed my target. Here is the pic of the final odo reading:

Thank you. I had taken her to office on Monday. Didn't take today as I was sure about rains. Riding in traffic is not so difficult. Stopping at the signals is the difficult part, and would prefer to switch off during the wait.

So does the bike heat up while riding in stop and go traffic? I have that issue with the Ninja so wondering if the same happens with the HD as well...

HDs (excepts for nightrod/v-rod) are air-cooled. If the engine is running on idle for long time, they will definitely heat up.

Thank you. She is assembled at a plant in Bawal, Haryana. BLR dealer has a stock of regularly selling accessories and critical spares. If you need something special, you need to order it and expect 1 month of waiting.

i have been a fan of the Sportster since 1998 when i say it for the first time in a friends brother's room. it was on the wall. then i saw it in flesh in 2004. and then since they have come to india did not try even once to go and check them cause i know i will fall for it and have to struggle really hard to buy one. which i cant be bothered to do.

Any ways take good care of it it..

The seat is spoiling the looks but whats better the looks or having your partner ride with you.
