Finally the headlight is inside the front air vents.I hope that white thing is the headlight. It gives it an immensely aggressive look on the front. The air vents act like eyebrows of the bike.

This could have been adopted long ago! But don't know why they kept delaying this style.

Woah, in the second pics, the exhaust seems to have disappeared from under the tail. It now appears to be an under-chassis exhaust under the rider's left foot?? Like in the KTM Duke.

Overall, awesomely aggressive looks from this bike. The headlights are blending in perfectly. Riding stance is lovely

Ducati's next gen Super Bike - Ducati 1199?

Ducati's next gen Super Bike - Ducati 1199? (with a Brand New Frame..??)

          Source: ThrottleQuest.Com

After the wondrous Ducati Diavel, which basically re-defined what a muscle bike should be and look like, it seems that Ducati is planning for another bomb and the segment of discussion is their Super bike. With nothing much happening for Ducati at the MotoGP (post arrival of Rossi) and with the drop dead gorgeous 1198S remaining more or less unchanged for quite sometime now, it's quite understandable that the think tank at Ducati is etching to come out with something radical, so radical that it would leave the world numb.

Ducati's current fleet of sport bikes have some features in common - The Trellis frame, The L-Twin engine construction with belt cam drive, Desmodromic valve operation. . The patent application basically outlines a motorcycle construction design that is devoid of any frame, and instead all the components are bolted to the motor. To quote Ducati's Lawyer, while filing the patent -

A motorcycle comprising a propelling group or engine, a saddle support, a support for the rear wheel, and a front directional group comprising a handlebar integral to a steering headstock functionally associated to a supporting organ of the vehicle front wheel, wherein such front group is connected to a box-like body incorporating the function of filtering box, constrained to the engine and apt to support the latter by connecting it, therethrough, to said front directional group, said support for the rear wheel and said saddle support being constrained to the engine, the vehicle being not equipped with additional members apt to constrain said engine to such front directional group

@ Payeng: Thanks for the pics and all the information friend!

Seems like a whole new chapter is about to be written in motorcycle engineering. What I like about Dukes is that they tune the same engine to different bikes so beautifully that it's hard to believe that Multistrada, Streetfighter, Diavel and the flagship 1198 SP, all are running on same engine with different tuning. Same goes with Hypermotards and Monsters.

However, one thing that I dont' like about the 2012 design is, Ducati's trademark style exhausts are missing from underseat.

Nonetheless, many things has been changed from the previous tradition that Ducati was kept following since 2007 when Casey Stoner became world champion riding GP7.

I personally like the agressive and sharp tail sections of the RSV4, S1000RR and it seems like Ducati is also following the same fashion.

I hope this revolutionary design will end the drought of Moto GP championship for Ducati.

^^ well just incase you're not updated..this bike might be inspired from the Desmosdecci, but Rossi does have a new chassis created for the GP11 making it GP11.1 which he successfully debuted in FP 1 today at Assen (round7) at 2nd position.
so this being their superbike (road verson) wouldn't effect anything in Motogp though the bike in Motogp may well effect this bike for sure
and if Ducati comes back to WSBK effect the WSBK championship too
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Well, thanks for the updation dude. If this is inspired by Desmosdecci, then I can sense the devil that is about to be unleashed..

Moreover, for 2012, there would be major changes in the Moto GP. Engine size will be increase to 1000 CC and no more 800 CC will be there. Though I am not sure that in this case what will happen to the WSBK?

So it means, the GP11.1 or GP12 will be the next flagship like 1198 or it would be like road going version of GP12, i.e. Desmosdecci??

^^maybe not the Desmosdecci to be exact, but the new changes we noticed and as explained by Payeng in this Ducati, is the new path or direction you can say, that ducati is willing to move towards after quitting (some of) their traditional fundamental features that distinguish a Ducati from other bikes.

Well this new Super bike platform by Ducati would mark a major paradigm shift in motorcycle design, and if it's successful, then it would simply mean one of the wildest dream coming true for any motorcycle designer.

For the Desmosdecci, it's a platform in itself and Ducati was very quick to realize this and that's why they opted out of it's production in 2009. Having ridden it, I can say that if the new design is even 50% based on the Desmosdecci, then the entire motorcycle fraternity worldwide, is in for a big surprise!!

@csajal: Dude! no offences here.. But you mean you've actually ridden a DESMOSDECCI 916RR, the one that is owned by Tom Cruise as well.?? Good lord! How was it? Have you ever experienced anything like that before or after?? I bet you haven't..

Moreover, I love the traditional Ducati with the trellis frame and underseat exhaust. However, it seems like new design is going to be a killer one.

Yup I've ridden that the one I rode for sure.

(the guy to whom it belong said with a smile - "Don't crash this bike kid else you are not going back to your country" )

You are absolutely right mate... it was nothing like I had ever ridden till date. Riding at 240+ and the damn bike doesn't give any sort of feedback of speed... just so relaxed, chilled out and in control.... not until you look at the speedo and think... good Lord what the heck!!

Surely looking forward to the new design.

New Ducati 1199 stuns Bayliss in test at Mugello.

Ducati's rivals are reeling after retired Ducati legend Troy bayliss matched his fastest ever time around Mugello, in a sensational three-day test of the new 1199. The 52-time WSB race winner left the track stunned by the pace of the machine at such an early stage: "All I can say is the bike is a beast and she is on the money."

Given a combination of an all-new engine, radically different chassis design, self-confessed 'rusty' rider and little development so far, the times Bayliss set are a staggering achievement, hinting at the huge potential of the mould-breaking new superbike.

Ducati's garage was full of smiles following the three-day test which once again proves its semi-monocoque 'stressed airbox' chassis - which does away with a conventional frame entirely - works and doesn't appear difficult to develop.
