Why don't you start an ownership report? Would love to see more pictures and your experiences. How much has it clocked?

Have clocked nearly 27,000 kms on it but I purchased it when it had already clocked 16,000 kms. So realistically have done 11,000kms on it and its been great, just the normal maintenance required. The only problem I have faced so far is from the inner fork tube due to stone hits. Dont know how I managed that but there are quite a few chips on the inner tube which keeps cutting the oil seal. Have decided to replace the part but other than that its running great so far and I ride it like I stole it.

And have you ridden a Monster? If yes, how would compare the rides vis-a-vis the Brutale?

I have not ridden the monster 796 as yet but have ridden the monster S4R which was the most powerful monster before the new 796 was release. The S4R has the 998cc engine making about a 115 HP while the brutale is a 750cc making appox 127HP. These are claimed HP's so not sure. The monsters Vtwin is very different from the MV inline 4. Both bikes are a lot of fun and very easy to ride in traffic. I feel the torque or the lower end grunt on the mosnters is better than if not the same as the MV. The ridding positions are very different. I would say that the monster seats are more comfortable than the MV ..... but the seating position is more upright on the MV. On a long run the monster seat will be more comfortable. Design wise I would say beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder but in my opinion the MV looks much better. The fit and finish on both are just great. The brakes on the Monster are much better (brembo's) than the MV's(nissin's). But in the new bikes (brutale 910R onwards) both have Brembo's. The sound of the brutale is something else alltogether. I dont know any bike that sounds so good other than the MV F4. The only thing these bikes miss is some kind of wind protection, even though they are nakeds they can really go to high speeds and thats the only time when you feel you could do with better wind protection but then again its crazy to take nakeds at high speeds

Thanks for putting this up! I thought as much with the comparo. Not sure when I would get one to ride. Among the nakeds the street triple remains my favourite with that deep and bassy inline 3 and a good all round bike. I hope we can soon see some launches from Triumph. Am not sure if MV is even considering India as a prospective market.

Completely agree on the speeds. Its a pain to cross 200Ks with the nakeds whereas its a breeze with the faired siblings. But what I like specially on the Monster is the way it reaches the 150K mark. Quite remarkable.

Hey JVH congrats on your Duc. i was looking forward for a Monster796 as its the most sensible big bike available in India apart from the Kaw' 650R and Hyosung 650 twins. Whats the true topspeed and how does it compare to the Duc Hypermotard 796. And since the M796 doesnt have adjustsable Front Supension have you considered any alternative?

I frankly don't know its top speed but I sense its capable of 250+ if one is an expert in riding the nakeds and small and thin so that he can hide and tuck to the bike lol! I took it just under 210 and the wind blast was just unbearable.

Hypermotard falls in a different class. I call it more of a drifter. Sorry but I have no experience but from what I've heard its fun. I think Rahul (kallan19) rode it and he may give you some opinion.

Nope, haven't considered an alternative. Even if I come across one, I don't think we have that experience labour to get those kind of jobs done. Better leave those to Ducati certified master technicians.

Yup the way these bikes get to the speeds of 150 is a joke infact sometimes I am amazed at how fast the brutale is being just a 750, keep dreaming of upgrading to the 1090RR but somehow love the older design so maybe the even the 910R will do hehehe....will keep dreaming. BTW after hearing the news that Saif Ali Khan was gifted a Brutale by MV I though surely they are headed to India to the extent that from the brutale lineup we could see the 920 and the 1090R and hopefully the F3 once its launched. Hmmm who knows

Alternative as in any other front suspension VIZ Ohlins, WP, Marzochhi, Showa? Things like those.........as i will be going for one within a few months time. Thats the first mod i would like to do.

When you say you will be going for one, you are talking about the suspension right? In that case, appreciate your feedback on the same. I'm basically looking for a first hand experience and btw, you are going to do it yourself or through the service center?

Actually, a guy in Thane wants to sell his Monster796. He is going for the DUC 848EVO. I am going for the used monster, but as the M796 hasn't got Front adjustable forks i am looking for aftermarket ones Ohlins are way too Expensive. Looking for other options.

Freekoo, If you dont mind me asking why do you need adjustable forks ? Most standard forks are actually very good. I have adjustable forks but beleive me I havent played with them much. Maybe if I plan to do a lot of track days it will make sense to have adjustable forks, soft for road use and stiff for the track. Sorry I dont mean to discourage you but just curious.
Ohlins are expensive but are really worth it IMHO

No issues. Its been quite a while i havent done trackdays. Yup i need adj suspension for track days as i will be soon commencing sessions along with my friends. Thanks for the advice regarding OHLINS will look forward into it.
