      here is what I understand..

We install loud pipes to save lives...
We are riding our bikes high speeds, using our horns for public "awareness", rear and front indicating the shit out of every turn, so the ever too slow rider behind us can make a prompt decision to not ram in to us, even though he couldn't keep up with us anyway...cause you know he's slow...but we do all these things anyway...cause we are nice people...
It has nothing to do with Histrionic personality disorder.

We install loud pipes for the children...
We have superbike rides on sundays..we are together sharing the passion of motorcycling...we are thinking of enjoying the spirit of motorcycling...the fresh air..the clear weekend roads...the early morning silence...the peaceful sounds of nature...we all gear up for safety..we grab our helmets and walk towards our juiced out bikes in high speed. There is nobody around at these early morning rides...it's a sunday...people are enjoying their early morning cup of tea...reading their newspaper...still sleeping in...a young couple having their regular early morning argument...children watching early morning TV instead of playing outdoors...I hope you all know where this is going...

Keys go in...ignition fired...the silence seductively awaken by a deafening roar...orgasmic to some...unforgivably disrespectful to other mere mortals...different strokes for different folks..rightly put...
tea spilling...newspaper ruffled...children running towards the balcony...what is that sound..a collective gasp...I want that..turbulent couple stop fighting....the girl arrives at a quick orgasm with the sound and a fantasy of making love on these hugely expensive vibrators, erupts in her mind...she looks at her boyfriend and her eyes remind him of his inadequacies...he runs away in an effeminate fashion into the bedroom...

      Loved it !!!!!!!!

meanwhile, an approximate number of bikes have fired up...some of them enjoy loud pipes...some of them are unfortunately still in the process of making their decision...
a loud roar...another orgasm hit by a milf on the ground floor...
the bikes ride by..the women can't wait for the next Sunday...a dream formed in the minds of otherwise dreamless children...such inspiration...the power of the roar...changing lives...
we do it for safety...we do it for the children...
      We all get it now...

      Writer's note:

"I,the biker" like the sound of a loud bike, because that was what attracted me when I was a little boy/girl....but then I "grew up" and I saw beyond the pompous sound and understood the "feeling" of freedom which only a bike seems to provide, the technical nuances of an engine and performance details.

      Very well said !!

having said all this bol bachchan...I'm not saying I won't look at termi's..never say never right... :-)

Crap Too many Right ppl around ! awosum stuff kallan !
Ur so rite when you some young ppl are reading this ! better not influence them in the wrong way !

          Lol
That I like the sound of an aftermarket exhaust is clear. That came first(and that's what you were looking for)..and then came the reasoning. The sound isn't done to please those children. The children were used as an example to mean that I am one amongst them and just as they make a dash to the balcony I make a dash to ride my bike every Sunday. Both, them and I, do it for the same reasons. Not just for sound alone now...but to push all the feel good buttons on my body by riding, by gazing at my bike and by listening to it while I ride and while I idle it.
That loud pipes save lives is a well known fact. In Germany ppl will frown at you if you aren't running an aftermarket exhaust. The 4 wheelers have trouble spotting a motorcycle as it is and some very high percentage of accidents involving a motorcycle and a four wheeler is because the four wheeler could not spot the motorcycle. That's why they got the day light running lights thingy passed where a rider cannot switch off his headlight even during the day...extrapolate the same principle a little further and you will realize the logic behind German public which demanded that the noise emmission norms were putiing more riders at risk. And these weren't motorcyclists yelling this. These were the cagers cause no one wants to be a part of any accident let alone kill a motorcyclist. I mean..how much of an annoyance is it really when the neighbors are hearing it only once a week for 1 minute at a stretch at most and about 80 percent of them are loving it ? My society manager requests me to take the kids on a small spin in the campus every Sunday evening, I have evaded his request for safety reasons but clearly I ain't pissing many ppl off...and if I am pissing some old intolerant couples cause they have issues in their lives..well then..sorry to them..but it's a good tradeoff for me to ensure my own safety. There are legal sound decibel limits and as long as I am under the limit I don't see why I shouldn't have one.
A motorcycle manufacturer, Yamaha, believes( hardcore) in the sound that their motorcycles make. They make it their passion..some Kodo principle or something..they fine tune the sound until it meets their passion standards not just quality standards. I am not the only one equating sound to passion..in fact I am not the one at all..I am merely a follower and a believer..it's the motorcycling world of which you and I are a part of that is equating sound for passion. if you speak to a purist who loved the NSR500s and the two stroke bikes of his era..he will want to piss on our Inline4 and twin sounds...he speaks of that era as the glory period of motorcycling just for the sound they made.
I don't wanna say to each his own or different people different strokes and then in the same breath disregard the other persons point of view with a knee jerk reaction. I had wished to be educated as to why you don't want an aftermarket exhaust(altho you do say you may want them later and that was all the more confusing)..were it just because you think you would be falling a victim to companies advertisements who are trying to sell you one without any remorse as you said in your previous post ? Or is it because you think it's a nuisance to others cause an aftermarket exhaust with street license still exceeds the legal permitted decibels ? Or is it because you think they are overpriced for they are ? Or is it because every Tom dick Harry gets one and that it's too common now ?
Like I said...I am not contradicting your conclusion that indulging in aftermarket exhausts is unnecessary and is done for attention alone..but was wanting to know the reasons behind it to see if I could incorporate some of them in reaching my own conclusion and maybe strike a balanced viewpoint of the whole topic at hand.

iam keeping a close track on this thread....
Well i would like to contribute my two cents...
For me i have been a guy who fantasizes about bikes and those I4's which are designed with sheer perfection. Noise coming out of those machine is simply orgasm for me..But now this noise has been bifurcated for me after use of Slip ons, FFE, or even the entire exhaust systems with ECU mapping.
For me a stock is like a teenage orgasm that we get after seeing a chick in college. FFE or Something advanced is like the real session. Well i dont want to be the guy next door who is pervert and looking at every passer by who has a different anatomy....The entire idea of getting those FFE installed is the sound and performance, TBR to LV, all of em are in this breed of providing additional performance, we as humans are not mad to plonk in additional BHP's in those pimped machine that do 0-100 under 3-4 seconds. Be it security feeling or stock feeling, there is a entire different breed which altogether promotes aftermarket products...
If i had a inline 4 or a Vtwin i would surely wait for sometime with the stock but would definitely upgrade cz iam a hungry and unsatisfied ass who wants more power, I may not use it but the feeling of owning a Hurricane than a Tornado is different and can be felt only when you get that empty shit of tarmac on weekends.

In all this i agree with Tenhut on his feelings regarding the growler his owns in Baner area....every passer by stops cz they dont wanna come in between something bigger than a car.
Kallan, you are in the stage where you do not like mods, well thats your choice be it and keep it simple, i like that too. But such outlook can be kept with certain machines only. You see Japs, they like to make noise that is heard colonies away. The red scarlet you own sounds perfect when its stock (i personally love that exhaust which is created from pizza land).

In all i need those mods...if any one wants to donate it please let me know ( iam serious regarding those big pipes that make me go ohhh la laa there goes a fkin import)

@kallan19 & tenhut : ah!!! was a pleasure to read you guys write very well.

@tenhut: could you tell us how much is the restricted decibel level in india?

may be there needs to be a thread on aftermarket exhausts for this section. it would clear lot of our doubts. brands, availability, prices, db levels etc

Thanks diehard! n_aditya and a few of us do ride on weekends specially on Sundays and I think that would be the best way to meet. It will be difficult for me this weekend though because parents and some relatives will be visiting us. But we will keep you informed. Meanwhile, if you can PM your number...

And I didn't know Ducati is the most sought after brand . Usually its the love it or hate it thing with the Duc. The feeling has not yet sunk in actually. I glance at it everyday in the mornings and the evenings and whenever I feel like...It brings a wry smile on your face knowing that you own this and it is yours to be tamed. The best part of this particular Duc is that its so compact and yet elegant. It can almost be passed on as just another bike at first glance. Fire up, slot the gear, open up the throttle and the Duc mocks and laughs at you on being considered just another bike. You have to ride one to appreciate the way it delivers the power and the way it synchronizes with the rider beyond 4k rpms. Its really a delight to handle.
