The R1 is a thing of divinity for me too. Congratulations, belated they may be, to you! Thanx for the pics and the experience because they help me using law of attraction for my R1 [] and to pretend my beloved R15 to be an R1.
Btw, why does the CBR in the pics show a mirrored image of the Honda emblem?

The power of dreams thankfully is not just limited to Honda, no pun intended and am sure you will have 1 too someday

The CBR in the pic had been repainted and badly if I am not mistaken. But it was a track modified bike and did its job amazingly well

Well, my work travel has kept me away on weekdays but the weekends have been fun. Have put about 2500 kms on the bike now and wanted to celebrate with some good old fashioned long ride, but the rains every Sunday have been playing spoilsport and while I still ended up a riding a good 100kms the stress on my wrists from all the gear changing and controlled braking began to take its toll so gave up and went back home. Took a few pictures on the way back when the rain gods let up

Now with the ride out of question, the next big gift for the bike was a good cleanup and polish. The rains had it looking like it had gotten into a mud fight and lost. (The before picture below should be self-explanatory)

After the nice cleaning and wax polish job the bike is back to looking its bright and shiny self. Now well it seems like a perfect love story, the hidden costs of buying a used bike are never far away. When I walked in to get what I thought was a routine puncture fixed, it turned out that I had not one or two but eight freaking holes from which air was leaking. The tire repair guy almost ran out of tubeless tire repair rubber before we got done. While the tread is not worn out too bad, the fact that it wasn’t really driven much by the previous owner seems to have left the tires a little worse for wear. In addition the little play I had in the rear brake is almost nil now and the front is also due for a change. So I foresee some big bills in the near future for me and my beloved love. But then again who said falling in love is cheap, so to sum up here is a shiny pic of bike after her cleanup

8 holes are too much, I guess if the bike was not ridden much, the tyres might have developed some cracks (happened with friend's 600), do get new pair for your bike. Might be a blow of around 30-40k, but would keep you safe and free from the hassles of puncture

It was an unfortunate ride day, with one issue after another cropping up…One of those days when everything just seems to go wrong…
The ride was supposed to start at 6:30 (sorry pp180 aka Mayank, I got the final confirmation by 2 am that nite, so couldn’t let you know). But delay after delay ensured that we started towards the toll by 8. And what do we find, a massive traffic jam, due to some satsang going on, so all of us ended up stuck in traffic crawling at nearly zero…And it wasn’t just us, we saw many other groups also stuck in the same traffic, finally some of us managed to take a U-turn, only to learn that one of the R1s in our group, was now stuck in the traffic with a dead started motor. The result we actually had to physically lift it across the road. The problems now continued, since we couldn’t jumpstart the motor. So the result is us trying to push a superbike with our feet while maintaining a speed of 15-20kmph (A feat that needs to be seen to be believed). The end result is most of us had burned thighs on one side….

All in all an eventful ride, just not in the way we had initially anticipated. (The worst part was one of the riders had borrowed a friends GoPro to create some memorable videos only ending up recording most of the traffic instead before the battery ran out)

Its been a couple of days since my last post, but bike had to go back to the garage after a jammed key in the ‘ON’ position during a second major puncture repair left the battery fully drained. In addition the row of nearly 20+ punctures on the back tire meant its life was over.
So this unexpected service meant the following expenses
                      1. New Pirelli Rears – 15,500
                      2. New Rear Brake Pads + Fluids – 5500
                      3. Simota Reusable Air Filter – 5800
                      4. Other Consumables – 2000 (includes 4 bottles of octane boosters)
                      5. Injector Cleaning – 1500

                      Total Cost – 30,000+

Am attaching pics of the new tires + brake fluid + brake pads and the octane booster bottles. Thanks to the change however braking and gripping issues are completely gone and I have more confidence in my lean in. Future upgrades over the next week include TOCE exhausts (I know they are only for posers and loud as hell but I love the intimidation of four exhaust pipes)

Why octane boosters? Are you not using 97 Octane?

Is there any special reason for those things hanging from the mirrors? If those have religious sentiments,u can put them under the back seat along with the papers.

Since i try drive daily it is hard for me to drive to Speed 97 petrol bunk in Delhi so I usually fill Speed at a closer petrol bunk and add octane boosters to ensure I get the minimum 95 octane rating that my bike needs

Yes they are for religious reasons, and there is no place under my seat as I have already added a special 1st aid kit which has extra bandagesch and antiseptic cream which I change every 6 months (A lesson I have learnt from previous spills where the bandages that the factory gives is not sufficient and usually has expired as well). The pieces of cloth however have never affected my driving and dont clog the rear view mirrors at high speeds so I have never had a problem with them, so I think I will still keep them there
