  • Re: Dustom's Turbocharged Harley 1250

Due to work related commitment I was unable to ride much in past few months, now I have quit my job to take at least a year off from regular working.
I hope to ride and wrench in this time.
Got back home and started my bike after almost 3 complete months.
When I left her last time I covered her , but certainly my sister decided covering her activa was a better deal. I found my Ride in a state as if she was left alone in thar desert.
Anyway here is First start. I did not expect the battery to hold juice but gladly it did.

      Turbo 1250 goes to Mana.
Largely data collection and mechanical reliability testing.
I guess this would be first ever Turbo motorcycle to have completed over 3000 reliable km in India.
Not even a drop of oil leak, no plumbing damage , no mechanical breakdown and tune behaved fantastically on 3000mtrs. With nearly 30% drop in barometric pressure , speed density EFI system compensated as desired For drop in pressure at startups . Once engine is running , Turbo makes sure you have a gods weapon at your disposal called torque.

Raw clip just Fir Turbo whine and some clutch less shifting.

        Zero emission chiller!
I should get some carbon credit.

Started next round of mods, oil cooler , a real oil chiller one.
And next ,a wide tyre .
Design of oil cooler is nearly complete.
Did some testing also and collected oil temperature data on idle.
Currently a cooling fan is not installed , will happen soon.
Even without fan , oil temps show nearly 25*C drop as compared to without oil cooler. This is at Stationary Idle.

Here is Harley's official oil cooler.

Here is mine , with 3.5times more radiating area viz a viz Harley one.

Only work left is cutting short the rubber hoses and installation of a fan.

try honda.. cbr150's/250'r fan. should be 2k and is a panasonic fan . very reliable.
also it comes seperate SKU hence can be bought off shelf.

just tell them you need to change on your CBR and cannot ride without it . they will give it. they are bound to give off shelf.
also the relay for the fan is 145 bucks.

                          here its 2k+.
outside its 1400 change. check the link.

if nothing works out. keep me posted. i will check here and will ship if needed.

another query.. have you played with the gearing ?
i wonder with the rpm building up too quickly and also far more torque than before. it would feel very short geared for a cruiser now.
how bout moving 2+ teeth in front and then enjoy the torque pull it cleanly.

I know this belt is not going to hold fort for long.. I will go for chain conversion in future , that's when gearing can be and will be taken care of.
However I enjoy stock gearing also, gives a lot of zing , but yes first three gears need to be shifted in almost continued fashion , with negligible time in between. Bam 1st. 1 second or so , bam 2nd ( 2-3 seconds)3rd.

So till this belt does me favours , I will save money of gearing n chain conversion.

you can try sourcing a front pulley with 2-3 extra teeth. that should work fine with the current belt drive.
